He had so many stacked up in the bed of the truck above the roof line of the cab that one of them flew out of the truck on the highway. It landed in front of the car in front of me. We were going over 75mph. He locked up his brakes and started to slide. I was on his tail but was still in control of the vehicle trying to slow down. I had a car on either side of me, so all I could was slow down & not lane change. The car next to me slammed into my side to avoid hitting the couch. That hit bent my rear trailing arm and pushed me into the guy in front of me. So it ended up being a 3 car pile up. The guy with the truck & couches ran initially, but we caught him bc evidence we found at the scene. Working with the insurance companies now.......

Thanks, it's definitely a bummer. No way to get back all the hours I had into it. At least it was fun

Yes, I'm mad as well. As I said before there's not really anything I can do to get back all the hours of work I put in the car. But I'm happy that nobody was injured. Apparently two other cars crashed as well.

Thanks Don. Yeah, a few dollars worth of straps could've prevented this whole situation

I need to try to turn this into a reality. I've printed all my receipts for the car & features I've had. I am trying to show the money I had into the car. Hopefully I can work something out with his insurance company.

So some good has come out of this. I managed to get enough money from the insurance agency to purchase a '73 2002. I've been mainly posting on instagram, but I'll be starting a build thread on here/2002faq soon for it.

Sucks what happened. Is the motor/ turbo setup salvageable? The 02s take a M20 quite well.

Glad you're ok and you didnt get screwed
