Dynomax Super Turbo as i mentioned before. Flows very well and is quietish + inexpensive. -
resonators don't really make it quiet, they just change the sound. you need a different muffler. you still have the magnaflow? plus a flowmaster? and no cat? that's why it's loud. it has little to do with your headers.
I don't see why you can't fit more, I've got 2 mufflers, a cat, and still have to consider the transfercase when fitting it all in there. and it's not loud either :)Leave a comment:

The headers isn't what made it so loud, the oem setup is very chambered and dense. Your aftermarket stuff is thin and light weight. It transfers the vibration very well.
how many mufflers do you have? I'd suggest a resonator and another muffler at minimum. Cats do wonders for quieting things down if you don't have one already.
Generally, the straight setups I've seen are 1 res (or I guess glass pack) for high end rasp, and 2 mufflers. Even then it's still loud.Leave a comment:

I ran the ebay headers with 95 pipes and a UUC catback. wasnt loud or raspy.
Well crap, that was with the supersprint stuff, wasnt too much louder that way anyway.Leave a comment:

Right now I'm wondering if I do side-by-side resonators in place of the small Magnaflow I have in place of the cats, if that would quiet it down some. Vibrant has 14" bottle-style resonators for $48 each, I would think that 2 of them would help a lot, would it not?Leave a comment:

I bet your ass you could do some of the OE style weight placement on the system to get rid of the unwanted sound.Leave a comment:

I'm kind of wishing I'd just kept the stock exhaust manifolds now. But there's got to be some way to quiet the system down with the ebay headers.Leave a comment:

I had ebay headers, Y down to 2.5" with a two vibrant mufflers and it was loud and really raspy. I went through a could different mufflers and it still had it. Ended up yanking the ebay headers and went with stock e36 m3 stuff from the headers to the tail pipe, including the cat.
I had the 3k rasp as well...hated it. I think it was from the headers or the cheap Y they used.Leave a comment:

Josh,I did get the exhaust done, and it's very well done, but it's very loud, way louder than I wanted. I didn't have time/cash to order the Vibrant I wanted, so I ended up picking up a Flowmaster for cheap, just so he'd have SOMETHING to put under it. It sounds good, it's just way too loud, and at about 3k, it has a really ricer-sounding rasp. I'll get something better under there late, but for now, it drives.
What I really can't figure out right now is why I have 7 qts. of oil in the thing, and it still barely shows up on the dipstick.
Thans for the update! Do you mind posting the cost for the exhaust work?
I'm not familiar with 'Vibrant'...
Oh and the name you probably didnt't recognize on FB that tried to friend you was moi :)Leave a comment:

I can only assume it's an E34, the whole engine came from an E34 with the oil pan attached, and the dipstick and tube were also already on it.Leave a comment:
