On the roomies M50, we have 1 magnaflow and 1 borla IIRC. Cats too. I can hear him coming down the block. This is why I hate exhaust work. I can never make quiet enough exhaust.

from then on I do all exhaust work my self, its pretty easy and a welder paid its self off in a month with all the trouble it saved me.
You went to midas. What did you expect? Some guy with 5 min of gasless mig welding under his belt got rushed to do the job as quickly as possible. And you didn't get quality work? Nooooooo

A block away, I can handle. You could hear my Magnaflow with stock cats on my M20 before about that far.

Oh wow, LOL...where did you find the first guy?! I bet you wish you just went to a good shop the first time.

I have a magnaflow ca specific cat dual 2" in and dual 2" out, then a 2 into 1 Y, a single 2.5" from Y to the magnaflow muffler... and it's pretty damn loud. But I do have an extra liter of displacement that might have a little to do with it as well.

Get the biggest muffler on there you can if you want it to be stealthy w/o a silencer before muffler.

drove my car today for the first time with m50 :-)

I have a Magnaflow 1x2.5"in, 2x2" out and an e30 Remus catback. It's not obnoxiously loud, but I would like to silence it just a little bit more. I have a 328" muffler, that I may try.

I should have qualified that. "From inside my house". I can tell when he gets home or leaves for somewhere.

Have you looked at Dynomax Super Turbos? I remember a muffler shoot out a while back and it won. Flows pretty damn close to a straight pipe, plus they are inexpensive and quiet. If you have ever heard a bursch muflfer on up to '89 911 Porsche , thats the muff they use. It is basically impossible to get a quietish straight though system w/o enormous muffler volumes. I cut open my 89 325 rear muffler and welded 2.5 perf cores straight through and glass packed it. It is very mellow, maybe 15% louder than stock. I started off with 2 inch cores but it sounded like stock.

LOL, actually had to talk to the guy to go back out there and get my jackstands today, and he said he wants to "fix it for me". I told him I'm going to re-evaluate how I want it done, and I will let him know.

Which will probably be about the 10th of Yeahfuckingrightuary, probably around quarter after never.

New 02 sensor from Levent got here today, just counting down the days until the 11th when it goes back to a real shop for the new system.

Instead of letting him fix it you should tell him to pay for the parts he ruined.

I think a flowmaster hush power will give you what you want. My dad just had a custom setup done for his e21. Magnaflow resonator and a magnaflow rear section. Its not super loud but does drone right at 3k rpm. So he's replacing the resonator with a hushpower muffler. They're baffled so they sound totally different than straight-throughs.
