I'm not claiming to be any expert, however I was a welder/sheet metal fabricator at a manufacturing plant for a while. I've never seen anybody double pass mig over a thin piece of exhaust unless they blew a hole through it the first pass. Maybe a capped tig to make it look pretty but that's it. Also, you can't see a second brown string along the welds, once again eluding that there wasn't a second pass.

No offense taken to anyone's comments, but he didn't go back over them. And I think some of the welds aren't as high as they look in the pics.

      Here's a few more close-up pics:

Those welds are fine, no need for anyone to worry about the exhaust falling off.
Sure, they could have been a little hotter, but they are plenty sufficient.

The only reason he didn't go hotter around the V-Band flange was because we didn't want to risk warping it.

Looking forward to seeing it coated. Depending on how thick the coating is, you may need to chase the threads on your 02 bung afterwards. If it's too tight it will seize and thats no fun for anyone (voice of experience) and the main reason i own an 18mm tap. The thread clearance needs to be pretty damn sloppy because of the harsh environment.

                Heh heh... bung.

I already asked them about that, he said they'll do it for me before I pick them up.

I LOVE this place I take all my powdercoating jobs to. I've been there 5 times already for engine parts, bike frames, and wheels, and they've always done top-notch work, and had everything done sooner than they quote. I can't wait. The only thing I can't decide on yet is a color.

What are your color options in exhaust worthy coatings?

For ceramic, I think it's mostly a few different silvers and greys, I just don't want anything bright and shiny, probably going to just go with like a deep grey/anthracite.

Just ordered my Borla center muffler. Now as soon as it gets here, and the headers come back from ceramic, the motor is going back in, and this new exhaust system can be built!

The UPS man bringeth the final piece of the exhaust puzzle today:

And the headers went in yesterday at 7am, so they should be done by the end of the week. All I'm waiting on is new exhaust manifold gaskets, a new power steering fluid reservoir, and the motor goes back in on Sunday.

Single 2.5" in/single 2.5" out? Oh well, too late now.
