I scored a booster/master combo at a junkyard for $22 total. e32 735 booster with e34 525 master cylinder. Hard lines are the same size and plugged right in, had to drill 2 holes in firewall for slightly larger booster mounting studs, and shorten the fork to fit the factory pedals. It came with remote brake fluid reservoir which is also huge in saving space. The e32 master cylinder would have worked, but the hardlines are 1 size up from e30/36/34 standard size which presented a new problem that I didn't feel like dealing with.
I used stock e28 535 green motor mounts and I had zero clearance issues anywhere. Everything bolted right in happily, with about an inch of extra space. This was super important to me also.. didn't want to deal with washers/shims or grinding down the manifold.
IMO this is the best solution outside of the more expensive ix boosters. If I ever do this again on a budget, I would try the slotting approach with stock parts, but I'm not the type to do that kind of mod, I like everything to be factory-like in every way possible. It was awesome to pay less than $100 for all the parts plus necessary modifications. Now the brakes are epic, pedal feel is much better than my e46 with wilwood 4 piston front bbk.

Looking good josh, I wish i had more time to shave my engine bay when i was doing my swap :( Soon tho!
Also Im interested to see this booster sliding over as well, personally i'd be apprehensive due to the fact that when you slide it over you'd be putting more room between the gas and the brake pedal or that the push-rod would be on a big angle.
