it would be totally unsafe to run a harness without a rollbar. you can probably find one used for pretty cheap. Alot of people like the autopower bar.Leave a comment:

+1000and i wanted to reiterate that r-comps will not help you drive better on a track. you might be faster, but they will cover up a lot of mistakes. mistakes that you will keep making. its better to learn to drive on a decent all-season. and then when you are quite experienced (as kishg said, 30+ track days) you can make that jump.
I started on Falken FK-451's they were good enough to last several track days but not so sticky that you can get away with stupid shit like you do with Rcomps. Plus they are very loud so you they tell you that you are doing something wrong, the R comps dont.
So you can be a fast newbie and eventually a slow solo guy, or you can go slower now and be awesome later, your choiceLeave a comment:

yep. I always learned that you should learn a cars limits before you do something else to make it perform better. and even when you think you know the limits you might not be at them. also kershaw is correct. a race seat should be used with a harness, which should be used with a rollbar, in which shouldn't be used in the street. It's like the human body. they all need each other to work properly.^ this
and dont think that if you wrap the bars in rollcage foam it will protect your face enough. that foam is also meant to be used in conjunction with a helmet.

for your purpose the autopower cage will be fine. The harness bar is mounted in a nice location and is hans compliant. I may suggest as kish started to that you just put in the rear cage that is not race legal but great for club stuff. will add roll over protection and support 6 point harness without having to worry about cracking your skull in a side impact.
I actually needed to floor mount my seats as my helmet hit the cage on left turns and im only 5'10"Leave a comment:

some misinformation in this thread. firstly as brian points out, sparco sprints are fia rated for competition so perfectly fine. myself i prefer the sparco evo seats or even better a seat with head protection. secondly, you do not need a cage to have shells, you do need harnesses and you do need a proper rollbar with a harness bar (not a stand alone harness bar). they operate as a system, don't have one without the other. daily driving a caged car is probably more dangerous.Leave a comment:
