So are you going to change the title of the thread? You could go the same route Kam did with S38-S38+S14. -
Mount your oil cooler using rubber buffers between the cooler and chassis. I had mine hard mounted like that in the exact same place and it exploded, twice. The only thing I could attribute the multiple failures to was chassis vibration or the hoses flexing and slowly bending the cooler. I think earls sells a nice "cage" for those oil coolers on summit. Just a heads up, your car is super badass.Leave a comment:

Man this thread is so full of cool.
Numerous S engines and pics to show they are well cared for and used.
Very coolLeave a comment:

Seeing as you plan on SCCA I think the S14 was a bad pick since it is all top end and SCCA is low end power for slow and fast in first-3rd.
As always, love seeing you do what you do! Stoked to do some driving this summer :DLeave a comment:

Nice I was wondering what swap you was gonna do. I like how you always refresh the engine before the swap nice work. Definetley gotta see it in person during the warmer monthsLeave a comment:

He has it for sale.
This is one of my favorite threads. I don't know if I would have done S38 to S14 but when I read you got a S14 I assumed it was going in this car. It will definitely be more nimble on the track than with the S38. I am looking forward to video. Keep up the good job.Leave a comment:

Curious to hear how the s14 compares in the 325 compared to the m3.Leave a comment:

The 325is went through a lot of changes in the last few weeks. Mainly the swapping out of the S38. Ive grown really fond of my M3 with the S14. Going to try and make the car into a light good handling autox car for this coming season. I picked up this spare S14 so I decided to throw it in and see how I like it.
Some last photos and video before the swap...
Tore into it
Worked into the night to get the s14 in
Welding my rad support
Made brackets to hold the radiator in its final position. Oil cooler in position too. went with Mishimoto for both radiator and oil cooler.
For now ill be running mechanical fan with the shroud but will switch to an electric puller in time. Cutting the lines for the oil cooler to size. I just used a hacksaw to cut them. wrapped where I cut with duct tape to keep the fraying down. M18x1.5 to AN10 adapters needs on oil filter housing.
Oil Lines in place
Now the huge plenum from the s38 isnt in the way I can go back to assisted braking. Cutting the lines and flaring them to fit again.
Much better fit then the s38.
So I got the engine to start today so ill share the electrical side of things. To start this is a 89' 325is so again here is the body side of the C101 for that car.
89' M20B25 C101- Alternator Charge - BU
- Oil Level Static- GN/YL, BU/BK
- Not Used
- Cool. Temp - BR/VI
- Oil Press - BR/GR, BK/BR
- O2 Heater - GN/WT, GN/YL -12V
- Ignition Coil - GN - 12V
- Fuel Rate(econo) - WT/BK,YL/WT
- Tach Signal - BK
- Oil Level Dynamic - BU, VI/GN
- Inspection reset - WT/GN, WT/BU
- Check Engine - GY,BR/BK
- Fuel Relay - GN/VI,VI/RD 12V
- Speedo- BK/WT,BU/YL
- Unloader- BK/GN
- SRS/Not used
- ABS
- Starter - BK/YL 12V
- Not Used
- Not Used
Now the 1989 M3 harness engine side C101. Which shares many similarities.
- Alternator Charge - BU
- Oil Level Ground - BR/OR
- Not Used
- Cool. Temp Gauge on Cluster - BR/WT
- Oil Press light cluster - BR/GR
- Diagnostic Port - GN/YL -12V & Evap Purge Relay BU/YL
- Ignition Coil Primary - GN - 12V Power Main Relay-GN
- Fuel Rate(econo) - WT
- Tach Signal - BK
- Oil Level to ground through resistor to pin#2- BR/OR
- Inspection reset - WT/BU
- Not Used
- Fuel Relay - GN/VI 12V
- Not Used
- Starter Unloader- BK/GN
- To Diagnostic Port- WT/BK
- Not Used
- Starter - BK/YL 12V
- Oil Temp(M3)-BR/VI
- Not Used
To get this to work I simply depinned #2 and #10 since they go to ground on the M3 and not on the 325 and plugged them together. #6 is different but they both are supplied by a wire of the same size with a 15A fuse.
Used the diagrams. Look up your car and look for C101 and next to it the pin #. Fairly simple.
Few more things to note when swapping the S14 to 325
- Throttle cable for s14 is longer M20 cable cant be used
- Tranny mounts and brackets are different.
- Motor mounts for S14 are taller.
- G265 Shifter parts are different than G260,G260/6, and G280.
Info on S14 bell housing sensors that i don't feel like re-typing
More to come now that the engine is running.

What are your thoughts on the tires? I need to get a new setup soon and I was planning on getting the 225/45s all the way around but I like the thought of 245s in the backLeave a comment:
