Basically my next move is to raid pick n pull for a good hood and trunklid without lip holes. Cheaper than what I think will happen eventually, but more manageable now than another grand on fiberglass frill. I still want this thing painted before I drive it anywhere major (picnic!?!), so it would be faster to go with that and start assembling things.

Seats are also an issue. I have basically 3 options open. First is stick with the sprint5s that have been on backorder forever, but the new proposed ship date is next week I think. Second, upgrade to spacro evos, wine country motorsports at sears pt moght have one or two. Probably an evo2 in the pass seat. Ooor, get a corbeau fx1 pro for me (small) and a regualar fx1 for the pass side.

Cancelling the order for the sprint 5s, I just recently left Wine Country Motorsports with the two Sparco Evo 2 Plus seats they had in stock. Good thing, as I would have been almost too tall for the shoulder belt holes in the sprint5. The evo2 plus is smaller than an evo2, but taller, and by shoulder width narrower than any of the evo seats. Its like an evo that got stretched up an inch. Also two steel side mount sets. No cf hood or trunk, im apparently already headed for the guillotine. Just good repacements from pnp for now.

Damn, just lost a whole reply. Anyway...

Got my flocking kit, will do that tomorrow...

I also got my rear subframe mount pieces, and the first parts of the bbk...

        Aaannd...

        Fapfapfapfap lol

        Two?!

Not easy to fit on the floor with just the sparco side mounts. I had to open up two of the front holes to get it to go over the floor seat studs, mark and drill for the rear ones, then ultimately still need to space it up a quarter inch on both sides. The front right of the seat mount tries to run up the tunnel some, so needs a spacer off the floor. I couldn't move the seat away fron the tunnel there in the front, its pretty well wedged in there between that point and the top side of the door x interfering with the shoulder bolster. With a .25" spacer under both sides that ill need to make, a credit card can squeeze past. In other words its not fully rested on the bar, just the fabric.

Rough seating position picture..note to self. Qr steering wheel would be invaluable here...

Cool. Its coming together. I want to see what the flocking kit turns out like.

The flocking kit is pretty easy to use, the hardest part is to get the glue stuff brushed on evenly The problem was between streaking from not enough glue and pooling from the inevitable running that occurred all over it from trying to do it fast enough. Its the consistency of maple syrup, not like some thin paint you need to evenly coat this part with and apply the fuzz before it looses it's tack. If I were doing something like this again I would use a 4" roller, not sure if our would be easier with the roller on a stock dash though due to the pockets, but I used a 1" brush. You would never get the project done with the brush they give.

            Overall shot..

Pooling and contaminate fuzz from the cardboard remclaimation...3oz if just barely enough for a dash.

Here is a spot that was thin and the glue left fine brusj lines where it did not adhere to the dash. Two shots though, it's hardly visible unless with a light and from the right angle.

Looks good. I think it would have been best with two people. One guy could roll out the larger areas while the other brushes in the small detailed spots. I might have to do this to my 2002 dash.

That would certainly help. Heres another bit of eye candy... Lees Massive subframe raising kit. He also supplies new studs, nuts and spacers to retain the diff at stock height.

The cuts in the rear subframe near the diff mounting points is welded up,

Also, what's the point of replacing something I plan to replace later? Doesn't make sense...z so f it, the trunk lid stock is lip holes will be welded shut. I drilled holes for the wing, so that must mean I'm keeping it. Same goes for the hood, its not thaaaat bad.

Did you weld all that? I was wondering. Ones you guys move out of the shop will you still be able and willing to weld my cage in for me?

Martin is doing basically all of the welding. We may be getting some paying jobs through here, the idea is to not have to, but get rent $ from places other than MY pocket. We will see, but yeah I could always help you with that regardless.

OK. Well I hope you guys get things worked out. This car is going to be a monster. When I get my m20 in we should take a drive.

No more mock up pictures of the seats, but I modified both of the sts of sparco side mounts identically for the driver and passenger. That necessitated making 8 total spacers. I didn't want to deal with the quarter inch steel, so instead drilled and rotobroached some 3/16" thick aluminum strip I had. It is sufficient to space the seat despite the 1/16th less.

Just finished this last four. That'll do.

I don't have a backwards folding knee on my right side, my wheel was REALLY in the way.. Ahem..

Really though, I swear. Got a Works Bell QRS II though. It's a low profile quick release.

Forgive me if this is a noob question....but what is the point of the subframe raising kit??? Eliminating bushings for more solidity in the suspension???

Everything else is looking awesome man!! Keep it up! Can't wait to see this thing tearin the streets!!
