I hope you didn't think I was bashing you! I think it is cool, most people go the m/s 5x route and it is interesting to see something different. 6speed is always cool too!

I am somewhat envious at how cheaply you can get various Japanese engines down under, but then I think of the rego and engineering crap your swaps tend to go through in most parts of the country just to be road legal, and then I remember how easy we have things in the US. As someone who's been into Toyotas far longer than E30s (& BMWs in general), I'm eagerly watching this thread and can't wait for videos of the finished product! Where are you located?

The headlight has been replaced and obviously with the incorrect item, no body damage or radiator support damage though which is good.
The main reason we did not entertain the idea of the 2grfe (a friend has one in his MR2 which is indeed VERY rare worldwide let alone in Australia) is because we wanted to stay with a good handling 4 cylinder package, and once disguised might even fool the fuzz if they ever pull the car over.
The costs involved in the 2grfe would also be close to double or more also.
Ant:- My friend is an engineer and so is a close friend of mine and in theory i could engineer it, but i would rather just register with this engine number/make the engine cover (cam cover "cover") and see how i go.
I don't intend to leave the car as an engine swapped standard braked death trap so i think ill be ok with the cops.

Thats a local guy Angleo that lives on the other side of the city from me. He goes the extra yard to build things properly and certainly makes things look great (and stock for that matter) the only bad thing with Angelo is that he never wants to go for a drive, meet anyone or come to the MR2 events we have here (MR2 nationals is soon at a local race track called Winton) which is a shame as we would all love to see how this car goes. He loves to show his stuff only which is nice though.
Anyway,
Good news and BAD news...
Guy at work who was looking at this swap too that i previously mentioned had a bingle in his E30 so it's going to the wreckers....
Thats the bad news, good news is myself and another E30 guy from work (built M10 turbo 2 door) swapped a whole heap of dead things from our car with good things from this car.
So i now have some matching smiley headlights :) Some nice badges, a front lip!!!!! and the fog light blanking i was missing, a full toolkit and some roof racks (handy for my bike)
His seats etc were rubbish like mine, but spewing i couldnt get the carpet dash mat or power windows in time :(
Update on engine conversion? My mate has to get rid of a "Matra" and a racing BMW 3.0 CSI then it's all systems go for this swap. I will update as we go.
