M20B29 w/ Triple Webers into my '71 2002

Jeez, time flies.
Have a couple things to report.
My last personal project at IE was designing an accelerator pedal for the 2002. I have never been a fan of the stock pedal and wanted something a bit more robust.
Design inspiration came from the original pedal Alpina outfitted to a number of their 2002 and E9 race cars. Fortunately, a friend had one and he was kind enough to send me its dimensions.

The new design incorporated compact roller bearings and a same-as-factory pivot point and pedal height. Additionally, there was a matching reinforcement plate that would go under the car and sandwich the floor pan sheet metal.
Unfortunately these features didn’t make production, however the retail price dropped to about half of what I projected.

Here is the link to the final piece.

It's coming along! But I don't want to spoil anything until I have something to show for it.
The car was "finished" just prior to the event, so not a ton of time to sort things out. It was an issue with the brake master not being up to handle the vintage AP/Lockheed brake calipers.Leave a comment:

That first knob ended up someplace neat!
I got roped into helping out a tiny bit on the green/white Group2 E9 CSL project. Meeting and talking shop with one of my personal heroes, Art Simonds, was a great experience. Very humble and quite guy. When he talked, you shut up and listened.
The car made it out to Monterey but unfortunately did not go beyond a practice run. They were still troubleshooting new-restoration-gremlins. Ron snapped a couple pictures…
Well look-ee there…!

Yes, I think you're right actually. Works on the porsche because the pattern is a bit more subtle. I think a strip on the dash would look killer, as well as a shift/ebrake boot.Leave a comment:

Hope all is well with you!Nice to see some progress!!! Good god those seats...
Reminds me of the singer porsche interiors, and seat upholstery. So beautiful. Are you going to continue the theme on the door cards? (I can't remember if you posted what the rest of the interior will look like - searched quickly but didn't find anything)
Call me crazy, but I think the two-tone weave would be a bit overkill on the door panels. I want to "subtly" tie it in somewhere, thinking an accent strip on the dash (a 'la Singer) or in the shifter/ebrake boots.Leave a comment:

Yolo!
Thanks, it is really nice now having the car at home. Getting an hour or so every evening is great. Plus the little ones are a great help.
Yesterday they were happy helping out with the trunk ...
