Damn really comming together. Can't believe the DIY content of this thread...Gives me hope for the future. Are you staying with the chrome kidneys? The finished product will be quite the accomplishment. Looks very clean. Good work

Thanks, and yes the chrome kidneys are staying, that's like the symbol of the car IMO, same with the roundel, to alter the colors is sort of... wrong.

Which car is that radiator originally intended for?

Z3M... it's a 3 row Mishimoto. We've pretty much all used it for our swaps, since it drops in, but has the extra row for better cooling of the big V8's...

I picked a 95 degree day to put on leathers and masks, and do some cutting and welding. Where was this weather when I was trying to prep & paint the car?

I have an idea... don't put on any welding protection, weld a little while in short sleeves or shirtless, then call off work all next week with the chicken pox, lol! Then you can spend some quality time with the car all week long, haha... 'course, there is a little pain involved, but the trade off is worth it IMO, lol...

Lol! Thats genius. Well I'm off to a great start... Welded one flange and ran out of wire. Off to Home Depot...

I also greatly underestimated how difficult this would be without a lift.

I did mine without a lift. YOu need to raise that car as high as you possibly can. Mine was a bitch to do.

I got under the car at least 150 separate times for fitment, tack, weld, fitment, .....etc. Sucked, but my car sounds so freaking good. As will yours!

Haha... that always happens to me! My welder gets used by more than just me, so inevitably, when I need it, the wire spool has been used up. I can't tell you how many times that's happened and for me, it seems it's always at a time when nothing is open, so it ends my work session...

I can say I spent a ton of time on my exhaust, but I did mine on my lift, so it was easier than on your back for sure. I don't envy your afternoon... then again, I need to get over to the shop and sweat a bit as well...

Good luck with the exhaust install! It's miserable work in the heat and in long sleeves, but it'll be worth it.

Well, that didn't go as I had planned. I'd list all of the problems, but I think we'd run out of forum space. But to summarize... the welder wasn't welding, I have burns all over my body, and my exhaust system is nowhere near sealed.

Here is what it currently looks like. Nothing like what I had in mind. I still have to put some bends in the rear, right after the axle, to get the muffler up higher and pointed towards the exhaust cutout in the rear bumper.

Finally done with the exhaust. I want to add another set of flanges, and probably flex pipes. That will come later.

On the agenda for tomorrow is to wrap my P/S hoses in a pretty trick DEI 2k degree sleeve that I picked up from Summit (the hoses are within 2" of the exhaust manifold), mount the ECU, wire up the electric fan, watch the windshield guy install my windshield... then... DRIVE THE CAR! Just down the road to get some inspection stickers put on it. After that, it's all just throwing little interior bits and pieces back in, a few hours tops. The car should be all set to make an appearance at the Deutsche Classic in Reading on July 15th.

Initial test results are in: Traction in 2nd gear is non-existent. Mission Accomplished!
