rated at 634ftlbs, it stiff but doesn't feel stiff enough to bend things, my wrx stock clutch is stiffer. could the slave be too weak for a stage 5 clutch?

OP, did you lightly grease the splines on the trans input shaft before installing the clutch disk? Maybe there's some binding going on?

i did also used 2000grit to polish off slight rust and corrosion from the splines.

it really does feel as if its just sticking and thats why when I rev it up all frees up. even when it has the clutch drag issue, slightly raising the rpm and then letting it idle fixes the problem.

pilots brand new oem. old was a huge pain to remove but there is definitely a new sealed oem pilot bearing.

It it requires force to engage 1st gear at a stop with the engine running, but not with the engine off, the clutch isn't fully disengaging or the pilot bearing is bad.

Hrm I don't think so - if there wasn't enough hydraulic force I think you'd feel it in your left foot, but it'd probably still work fine, just stiff as hell.

Put a friend in the car, put it on stands and see how much travel you're getting out of the slave. Then you'll at least know if it's a hydraulic issue or not

Were both locating dowels for the transmission on the block?

so the problem seems to be worse when hot vs cold, for the first 10-20minutes of todays drive it worked great, then the clutch gets grabbier, harder to use and the problem starts. Just going to drive as is, no way do I have enough time to do another trans job, The problem isn't getting any worse and it just takes a quick rev to shift so I can bear with it. Today was around 94degrees and the car got hot again, so I'm going to try to add another small puller fan.

8" puller added in combo with my 12" pusher should be just enough to keep it cool in traffic, and auto-x next weekend.

you're planning on running autocross with the clutch being a hassle?

yup, as long as the car is rolling it shows no symptoms; I also have enough torque to pull second gear everywhere so I shouldn't even need to shift lol.

seriously though best of luck with getting it fixed right before the event, that would suck

soooo, drove over 100miles today, and I HATE my car:(

It will be perfect for like 25% of the stops, I can stop put it in neutral put it back in gear and then pull away nice and smooth, the rest of the time I either cant put it in gear or I cant even slow down because the clutch doesn't even release and it just stalls out and squeals away, cant even pull out of gear in those situations.

Looks like I'm removing the transmission, the cars completely useless if I cant drive it around town without the constant fear of not knowing whether the clutch will work or not.

yeah, also my gas tank is pressurizing, getting hot, charcoal canister completely fills and dumps all over the floor, happens after freeway driving, guessing my exhaust is heating the underside of the car. although this only happens during freeway trips never around town.
