Depends on your cam and what you're running, you're VERY limited with the cast iron heads, most 302 setups with aluminum heads with a mild intake/cam setup will see close to 300rwhp and about 330rwtq.

If you're running a mild cam with the stock heads, sheet metal rocker arms (1.52 ratio if i remember correctly and my brain hasn't rusted out) with the stock intake then you shouldn't be making much more than stock.

Your biggest limiting factor on that motor is the stock cast iron heads. They don't flow well, they're VERY heavy and the intake valves are tinyyyy so if you want power out of that thing aluminum heads is the way to go.

Also, mind you the rwhp and rwtq figures I'm giving you is simply based off foxbody/sn95 chassis numbers, not sure if drivetrain loss will be the same in a E30 or not.

If you need help with tuning the EEC-IV, let me know I've done foxbody mustangs and just 302 mustangs in general for a long time there's lots of tricks to get them to run better even when you don't necessarily have the cash to upgrade what you've already got.

I can't tell from the pics but is this out of a 86-87 or 88+? Reason I ask is if it's not a MAF motor make sure to convert it to MAF as the speed density ECU will not respond to mods.

Edit: Are you going to be running the EEC-IV or something else?

Good to know, and its a '91 HO. I'm just curious, because he said it was fairly built but it doesn't look like it from what I've taken off so far. It does however, have a nitrous line tapped into the fuel rail. And whats the EEIC-IV? I've never once heard of that haha.

EEC-IV is the ECU used in the fuel injection 5.0 mustangs.

That motor is definitely not built unless there's a 347 hiding under those heads...

Ohhhhhh, yes I am planning on doing fuel injection. Wish I could carb it, but not in my price range. Thanks for the help.

FI > Carb for something that you want to drive daily.

I hope this project comes through, 302 engines kick ass. Had me a 88 Volvo 740 with one in it for a while.

                    1. I know how much better efi is, but If it was carb'd I could do the wiring in about 5 minutes haha.

                    2. Thanks, hoping so too. Dropping the motor in tonight to mock up the new booster set-up. Also, and pictures of said Volvo?

I still have to bead blast and paint the intake mani and valve covers. I got the clearance for the bell housing/ engine figured out. The only issue is, e30v8.com appears to have sent me the wrong mounts so as you can tell from the pics its slanted slightly towards the left, so I'll have to figure that out. Anyway, glad to have the motor in finally haha.
