So when I first looked at this, I was thinking that this mount is not built to last. I think you need more than just a piece of metal between both of those pieces of angle. There are 2 single points of failure there that could fail and you'd be stuck on the side of the road.

I'm no expert so I asked my friend who is a mechanical engineer and has forgotten more about welding and structural analysis than I'll ever know about welding and structural analysis and he felt the same way that this is a poor design. You should look into replacing that single piece of steel with some square tubing, or at least some C-channel and/or a lot more triangulating of the 2 angle brackets. (Replacing the angle with square tubing wouldn't be a bad idea either.) More like the e30v8 kit:

Weird since what is on their site now looks totally different. I guess they improved their design from what they sent you.

The pics are actually their old design, the ones I have are the new design. Its weird, but I'm sick of dealing with them hahah.

            But yes, I'm reinforcing them.

Fyi Ive got pictures of my exhaust up. Also not sure if uve found um yet but the shorties are a stock gt manifold so try calling wrecking yards. I suggest trying to track down some ovalized exhaust as its def the lowest part of the car and i snaked mine under the pass mount and around the starter to save ground clearance. I did see 1 dude who used a pass long tube pointed the right way and ran 2.5 around the front to save the 1/2" of clearance rather then snaking the 3" mandrel like i did.

                  Thanks man!

To all about the mounts, these are, and have always been the production mounts. Theres a 600+ hp e30 running these exact mounts, so I should be good :)

                  Not much to see, but...

                  Pulled the engine back out.

Tight fit! People said it was impossible to put in/ take the trans and engine out as a whole.

Removed the smog pump, put a bolt into the line then welded it all shut. Looks much cleaner, and dropped about 10lbs.

Then after putting all the clutch stuff on, the headers(and new gaskets) and new oil pan and gasket, this happened:

As it happened, it actually fell perfectly into place. Unfortunately, the tabs on the starter broke off, so some more welding to do. The hoist fell over because the front feet kept digging into the asphalt, so much so that without counterbalance on the rear, toppled forward.

Well anyway, got it back into its home, so more updates/ pictures later in the week!

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but it looks like the hoist tipped because you didn't extend the front wheels out to match the arm.

I've almost suffered the same issue before, it's a bitch sometimes when you don't have the clearance to extend the bottom arms out.

How long before it's up and running?

Going to be starting my swap soon, waiting to get the oil pan back. Looks like it will be 1 of 2 v8 e30's in the area.

Hoping to have it running(but not caged) by Hyperfest in WV, so by June 15th.

And hell yeah, yours will undoubtedly be faster and more awesome than mine, but still. Theres also a third person around saving up for a v8 swap...
