Lol, Slam.. When your little one gets here you will have absolutely NO TIME AT ALL!
I work on it about once a month. Maybe tinker here and there in between.

Pretty much all I do now is grab a chair, start the car, listen to that V8 sing, and then go back in the house with a boner.

Lol! I'm thinking of telling the S.O. I need to work on it after work to achieve my goal.

      25 days left. Jesus....sounds silly.

Thanks Frank. Your writeup was a big help.

I'm thinking of picking up an s62 myself.

Just a small update. Been working on appearance lately. My back has been hurting a little much for me to be crawling under the car. Should be heading to the lift next week to do exhaust.

          Pic story:

          Bumpers dry as shit

          Bumpers cracked to shit

          So I took em off

          Plate thanks to Maks!

Got the euoro grills and bumper trimm off and cleaned to paint

End result with a single layer of paint. Makes a world difference.

I just dropped of the driveshafts for a complete rebuild and customization. Heavy duty U-joints and reinfoced tubing. $510 hard spent. That should be ready friday.

On another note, I'll be spending today and tomorrow welding in the sub frame reinforcements. I'm putting the entire 5-lug swap on hold for now. Probably won't even go through with it, so if anyone wants a set of extremely mint style 4's they can get tem for the low. I have a complete rear 5-lug setup and front hubs, spindles, and brakes as well.

On another note, the oil filter housing needs to be moved down a tad or some shit. If I can find a remote mount for cheap I'll do that. That leaves me with just the shifter, trans mount, brake lines, and exhaust to finish. It should be rolling under its own power this weekend.

                  Yeah yuhhhhh!!!!!

I need to get my shit together. Pushed it out yesterday since dad needed to borrow the lift for his 'vert. First time in like 4 months it's touched the ground.

                  In for hooning vids.

hey are you keeping your tan seats with a black dyed carpet?
If, so I would like to request pics...
I'm on the fence about just dying my vert's tan carpet black while I have it out or wasting more time pursuing a minty tan vert carpet.
                    thanks

I was wondering what happened to your thread. Hasn't been updated in a while.
I've hit a milestone and realized this could have been done a while ago if I got off my ass.

                      thanks
Really clean tan carpet is tits compared to black. Just my opinion. The contrast will be nice and that's what I want. Maintaining a clean tab carpet in a vert is hard as hell so black it is. I'll be using rit dye as well since the tan bleeds through the sprays.

On another note, I just finished the trans mount. Used my flux core welder. I fukcing hate flux core but its all I have for now. My welds look sloppy, so what. Enjoy.

I had to heat up the metal to really lay a flat bead. I got tired of using my torch so here is the result.

I hope that got good penetration, cause its gonna suck if it breaks.

it got damn good penetration. I penetrated the the thicker steel first and then doubled back and went a litle slower to tie into the thinner oem trans bracket. Did a few stress test and it's pretty damn good...

All I want for christmas is a decent TIG!

I've got a birthday coming up in less than a month..... ;);)

I got all stalled out prepping the GF's car for the Vintage once I realized I wasn't going to get this e30 together. Probably for the best so I can slow down a bit and do a cleaner job of it all. Not a rushed cobbled together job.

Nice! You shouldnt have any problems out of it then
I hate flux core too, its just so messy.

Is yours able to be converted to mig? or is it flux only? I have been wanting to convert the one I have access to, and its not even mine lol

I knew it lol! Same thing happened to me. Just don't go to slow. It's quite easy to get lethargic on these builds.

Tooo messy! Mine is not gas-able. I've seen pleanty of folks run a nylon-plastic line straight to the cup tip and run solid wire that way. Works well but uses more gas as it's not trigger enabled.

Migs around here are a dime a dozen so I may end up getting a spooler and a bottle for about $600 used vs paying $1200 for a tig and another $350 for a full bottle. Welding is expensive!
