Yes- tons of it, all new and stored indoors. Pretty much the same color as the Comanche that I use to tow the e30.

So I was looking into m42 cam timing. Since the stock m42 cams are adjustable, I have read that adjusting the intake cam by about 4-5 degrees can free up a little more power.

Supposedly, bmw set the cams how they are to give a little bit of a smoother idle, which in turn causes a slight loss in power. Though I know it wont gain much power, it could be useful in rallycross with a chip that already adjusts the intake timing slightly to maybe get a little bit more response out of the motor, which could be useful coming out of tight corners where sometimes I think about dropping into first when I should really stay in second considering the loss of time shifting.

Anyone else with insight on the m42 adjustable cams, please feel free to chime in. I might mess around with them this weekend just to see if there are any differences.

My research on the matter indicated that the centered spot was best....if you retard the timing the engine will choke up high (like when you're on a straight) and if you advance it you lose low-end.

After doing a lot of reading on it I decided just to leave mine in the middle/stock position. I do have a Conforti chip though.

I have my eBay chip, but i don't think I'm gonna run that. It's a 93oct one but I'm not even sure if it works. It might just raise the rev limiter. Not quite sure.

I definitely liked mine tuned with the chip. Went full retard(whoops), never had an issue up to 7k or whatever the chip allowed me to.

So looked through my box of "M42/M44" parts today. I have an m44 crank and cams along with m44 pistons. I am going to do some research as to what I can do with these and an m42 block. Probably will just sell the parts off, but could be a cool engine build for the car.

Also picked up a spare m42 awhile ago in case my current one goes. I pulled the plugs on that one today and check out the cam gears. It also came with a set of coil on plug kit. Cam gears looked pretty good but the plugs had some oil on them. :/

              Coil on plugs.

looks like the valve cover gaskets around the plug holes were leaky....no biggie.

Damn, that timing equipment in the spare engine looks great. The valve cover leak into the plug holes is kinda typical. Any loose bolts or guide debris in the oil sump?

                      ^ this.

Timing chain gears look to be in great shape.

So I didnt get much work done on the car this past weekend. My welder has been broken and I still can't figure out the issue with it. Instead I did a little bit of scrapping. Drove down to VA to pick up some stuff including a valance for my other car from a guy along with about 1.5 worth of e30s in scrap.

Bonus points to anybody who can recognize who's car that is in there. So sad to see it cut up. :(

Also notice the mudflaps bending back a little. It may be due to all the rain/sleet and cold weather we've been having. No biggie as long as it stays uniform.

Just took a quick video of the exhaust because it was nice out today and I just got it finished the other day. Might be adding a resonator or glasspack in right after the cat since as of now it only has the Magnaflow muffler and some weird looking resonator thats maybe 6" long right after the cat.

Here is the link if it doesnt work.

hmmm....now I'm kind of regretting giving you that muffler, sounds good with the resonator in place (which I didn't have, so it didn't sound good). Between that and the wheel studs I gave you, you owe me one, lol.

wind noise fail with windows down though, haha.

we'll have to do a comparison once I get the OEM resonator back on with the Dynomax muffler I'm using.
