Are you jumpstarting it off of the battery or the junction block underhood?

My tools are at my garage, ~6 miles away

My car is missing the clicker thing, so I just pulled the bulbs

It just wont start, doesnt turn over or anything... Im 99.99% sure its related to the charging system

Ive never tried using the junction box under the hood, should I be?

Never really made a difference for me. If anything going straight to the battery works better, and that's on E36-F10 anything between. When it doesn't start, does nothing come on at all? Or do you get cluster and all that jazz? Comment

Im certain theres a drain somewhere. I trickle charged the battery OFF the car and it fired up right away today, previously I was leaving the charger on the battery while it was directly on the car.

I will let you know what I find to be the culprit. My guess is Stereo #1, the trunk light #2 and then ???Simon

So there was a big drop in mA draw when I pulled fuse #21... Im thinking when I began the process of adding the second trunk light I created a draw on the battery.

edit: If the trunk light bulb is already pulled, then it has to be something else!! Last edited by 2mAn; 04-03-2015, 04:12 PM.Simon Last edited by 2mAn; 04-03-2015, 04:12 PM.Simon

Draws are the worst!!! I have one from my interior, I believe it's fuse 6. Now my multimeter fuse blew so I can't trace it. Electrical problems suck! Still haven't figured out why my car cuts off randomly but then starts right up..Comment

Hope you figure out your draw issue. I'm sure you already have this info but just in case:

 21 - 7.5 - Glovebox light
 Flashlight
 Ignition Key/Seat Belt warning
 Interior Lights
 Radio Memory
 Trunk Light
 Active Check Control
 Service Interval Indicator
 OBC
 Fuel delivery
 Tachometer/Fuel Economy Gauge
 Digital Clock
 Multi Function Clock Comment

Yup, I read that in the Bentley. Just not sure where to start with this. Obviously I will need to check each item, but Im not sure what I need to check to confirm whether or not there is a draw from the Items.Hope you figure out your draw issue. I trimmed the list to match the options my car has. Slightly less BS to check.

Im trying to think what recently has been messed with to suddenly cause the fuse to pop. The only thing Ive messed with lately has been the trunk light. Over the weekend, I got my hands on the trigger which will illuminate the trunk light, but I still left the bulbs out after I installed it.

My car being a 84 318 doesnt have the check panel or an OBC, just had a digital clock which is now the analog clock.

I also dont have or know whats going on with the glovebox stuff. Ive never had the flashlight connection or a light in there.Simon

So... I've had some frustrating days with no luck in tracking down the draw and decided to do something different... I'll let the pics do the talking.

etch primer and semi gloss rustoleum...

The mirror and the plastics are going to get the boiled linseed treatment. Paint adds weight and weight is the enemy. Anywhere I can avoid painting stuff, I will.

I will probably eliminate the OEM mirrors for some carbon DTM ones in the future.... around the same time I get a carbon fiber hood! :rofl:Simon
