I feel your pain, that shop is crazy. so what are we talking a total of 3 welds.......to bad you couldn't just mock it all up, unhook the headers and have it welded. They probably figured they''d corner you on pricing like you didn't have any other options. Tools..........

Jeebus! I paid $300 for the exhaust work on Siobhan, and thought THAT was exorbitant! Bob would probably trailer it somewhere for you for not alot of cash.
And $340 to replace a SLAVE Cylinder? 2 f*cking bolts on the trans, and unscrewing 1 hose? I want some of whatever shizz they are smoking!
Dang, sorry man. It WILL all be worth it when it's done...Originally posted by LJ851kingston is the play by play announcer for this thread.

I'll just drive it once I put in the new slave. I wanted them to do it just so I could drive it home and not worry about trailer-ing it but whatever.

So, I blew another slave cylinder last night...
Took the car to a friends shop, got it on a lift and dropped the trans expecting to find something was installed incorrectly.
Found out that actually everything was installed properly and that I just didn't line up the slave correctly.put the trans back in, bolted on another new slave and the clutch is perfect. Also got in there and fixed the selector rod issues I was having. Right now, I'm sitting at the shop while they fab the exhaust :)

Spent 24 hours straight this weekend getting everything buttoned up in the car in hopes to take it too a meet on Sunday. Got 75% done with the downpipes and stopped to address other things. Took care of a couple vacuum leaks, modified coolant hoses to fit better, tidied up some electronics and improved the shifter slightly.
Finally, the idled perfectly. I pulled out of the garage for the first drive and it died. :( When I completely got off the clutch and the engine was under load, it would sputter and sound like shit. Hooked it up to this handy dandy Snap-On scanner dealio and it told me that the Camshaft position sensor was bad. Unfortunately this was not until 9am on Sunday morning that I found this out. At this point I had been in the garage working on this shitbox since 9am on Saturday morning. Anyway, ordered a cam sensor and it will be here Tuesday morning so I fully expect to drive the bish home Tuesday night.
Some pics of the unfinished exhaust downpipes. Tig welding all of it and it's getting done in stainless.

I forgot to mention that after the second slave popped, I towed the car to his shop, dropped the trans and found that everything inside was perfect. We put the trans back in, installed a new slave, and it bled and works perfectly. I believe what happened was when I installed the second slave, I put the pin on top of the shift fork rather than on it. It's such an awkwardly small amount of space you have to get it in there, I didn't pull it back out and verify I aligned it properly. Anyway, that aspect of it is now behind me and it should be good to go tomorrow.
