Watching the Vintage commercial was awesome, thanks for sharing!

Haven't even ridden in one, but I can still get giddy watching it slide around with all that stuff in the bed.

Repaired a few things on the Scout recently. The muffler i put on 15 years ago finally gave out.

I ended up replacing the whole exhaust system except the first couple feet of the down pipe. New muffler, added a flex pipe and new hangers. Came out great and totally leak free...at least until my first test drive when it sounded like it had a pretty bad leak. wtf?

        Oh !

Manifold broke big time so i put a new one on.

Figured it was going to be hell getting exhaust manifold bolts out of the head that likely have been there since 1962. I removed them all with the slightest of force, like i had put them in last week or something. International copper plated the exhaust bolts, these are 52 years old. I reused them of course.

My fuel tank rusted badly the last time the truck sat so i have been running it out of a 5 gallon gas can for the last while with no fuel gauge which is annoying. I decided to see if i could salvage the rusted tank and it came out great. I used POR fuel tank paint after removing the rust with acid. Got a good used fuel level sender and i now have 12 gallons capacity and a working fuel gauge again. So luxurious !

        Repaired fuel tank

The tank sits in front of the driver's rear wheel

When i ordered the used fuel sender, i also was able to get a decent used headlight switch and heater fan switch with knobs. I had already rebuilt my original switches twice and they were beyond repair without making parts from scratch. The switches i got were in pretty good shape and between the 4 switches, i ended up with 2 in very serviceable condition. It's nice to have all the stock knobs on the dash and everything functioning like it should again.

This is the original heater fan switch, the removed top portion was falling apart and burned from poor contact.

Didn't take a picture of the rebuilt switches, i was in the zone.

Love this thing. My father used to have one of these when I was little and I remember driving all over the ranch and mountains in it. I was only like 6 years old but it left me with a soft spot for scouts.

Love the scout bro, there was a red scout in this years Fourwheeler's TTC. I'd take a truck thats 25yrs old over a new one anyday.

Do you need another decent center bumper section for the 1600?

From here, it looks like it's got some nice dents.

Let me dig around in my container full of 02 parts. I know I have an extra complete bumper, but might have a decent center section or two. How are your corners pieces?

Corners are good and i have a good front bumper as well, a decent rear center section would set me up.

Reminds me of my grandfather's old 1950 Ford Jeep. Spent many hours rolling up and down 101 with the window down maxing it out at 54 mph. He had PTO installed on it and it made a trip down to Cabo in 1962 as a tow vehicle behind a brand new 1962 C20 with a camper on it. He wanted more clearance on the Jeep so he had 1940s Packard wheels put on it. So much fun.
