Clearance of the strut tower, and/or brake booster I would assume. e30 engine bay is a bit smaller than the e36.

This exact setup won't fit an e30 with a brake booster (well, will physically clear). There should be at least one throttle diameter away from any obstruction, and that just won't happen in an e30, even with a small booster. Booster delete is fine.

The oil filter housing issue was resolved with an updated casting with more angle to clear. This was only an issue on the metal oil filter housing cover, it cleared the plastic ones only. All this has all changed and been resolved (obviously, they are bolted to the motor and running now).

If you would like these in your e30 with a brake booster, we just send you slightly shorter throttle housings, everything else is the same.

So, in short, all the fitment issues have been sorted for both chassis, and for all single vanos engines. I believe they will fit dual vanos engines, specially seeing some m54 guys have started swapping to the obd1 manifolds - these throttles are pretty much the same size as an m50 manifold...

So, while the longer throttle housings will clear the booster, it won't have the one diameter clearance rule for open trumpets.

For those interested in putting them on an m52tu, or m54, see this thread...

Is there a plan to offer a tune & airbox for the E30 24V swaps? So excited about this!

Tunes are available for the open trumpets.

Air-boxes are in the plans, yes, but will be more expensive. We will be starting with sheet metal, and pending serious interest, carbon can be manufactured.

More on this later, though, the parts for the new setup just arrived. Trying to talk a couple locals into putting these on their 3 and 3.2l motors and re-dyno them just to prove further how they perform.

So which ECUs are you able to alphaN with now that you figured this out? Can m20 and m30 be made to do this?

This may be a silly question but, how safe is it running this setup with just the trumpets and no air filtering?

We are having little filters made for those that want to run open trumpets, also a plenum in the works for people wanting to use the MAF and/or boost them.

The short answer is that it's not safe for the long term on a street driven car, but it makes good PR videos.

And it's fine on the track. Many many cars out there run open trumpets, on ITB's and Weber alike. With the obvious state of this engine, I not only have been driving it without filtration, but hood-less as well.
