My euro 320i/B6 3.5 Alpina Tribute ( Now with turbo power)
Went out to the car today and replaced the ignition switch with a new one i had laying around. Car now runs YAY! But still has no brakes. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the brake booster. This sucks because there is a good chance the m30's intake manifold will get in the way of booster replacement and I'm gonna have to rip this bitch apart... Now the question is do I wanna spend 209 on a 944 booster from blunt or buy a used one and run the risk of it going bad.. Cause I Don't really have the spare cash right now to drop on a booster and possibly a MC depending on the shape this one is when i get it torn apart. Pics i took yesterday but left my camera at the shop -_-
What was the hold-up preventing you from using the exhaust manifold gaskets?
Exhaust manifold gaskets? No problem with gaskets i was having problems with heat shields cause my floor boards aren't the same shape as oem cause my rust repair so i had to come up with an alternative way to keep heat from transferring through the floors into the cabin
man I hope pandaboo wasn't speaking from experience
Yea that would be bad. I'm gonna stop and get a fire extinguisher to carry around. Even though If they go I probably wont get it out I sure will try. I also think that I got the wrap car enough down that most oil that would drip should burn off the manifolds before reaching the wrap.
Yeah on an NA car it isn't necessary since it'll never heat soak. The only thing to be gained is cleaner exhaust b/c hotter cats?
I honestly only did it cause i couldnt fit oem heat shields and wanted some form of shielding so i got that stick on shielding rated for 2000degrees and the wrap.
The only issue with wrap is if you have a significant oil leak at the valve cover and your headers soak with oil the wrap will act like a candle wick and you'll have an engine bay fire that you can't put out.
Ah yea. I see what your saying. Good thing the valve cover is new.

All Done. This car has so much torque i love it!! The joy was short lived though cause as I went to brake for my first corner I had ZERO brakes good thing i was going up a steep hill and just coasted around the corner. My pedal is solid too like ZERO give to it at all I could also tell the front calipers weren't even trying to bite so I think they may be frozen. Also once i parked it and turned it off it decided it didnt want to start back up. OH the joys of a freshly built car... Now to work the bugs out.
And you guys probably thought I'd leave you with no sound clip.. Im not that mean.. I'm not slammin either so burn outs will come in full force once she has kinks worked out.
Seems the wraps trap moisture, accelerate degradation.

Like this car will ever see moisture. Lol
Only moisture it will see is the wet panties in the passenger seat tehehehehehe but yea i doubt it will see much of anything besides sunny days and a bath and coat of wax. Plus i will probably turbo it before those rot away and as long as i don't take it for short drives and allow the exhaust to get hot it should dry out. Cause i know short drives on cars will murder your exhaust.
I have read bad things about exhaust wrap. What's the skinny? I'd like the clean, finished look in my bay and if it improves performance I'm game.
Why did you choose to wrap?
Really what have you heard? I chose it because with the way my floor pans are from my repairs they don't conform 100% to the stock ones so fitment is extremely tight and oem heat shields would not work at all so I just thought of an alternative which was exhaust wrap and a peel and stick heat shield. Rated for 2000 degrees
