Great story, glad Gary's car finally got the restoration he would have wanted. :)

Thanks, the next project is the interior this year and then some other odds and ends. There ended up being a lot more issues with the body than I originally knew about so that kind of sucks, but the body shop did their best and it looks good enough IMO.

nice car. surprised you left the side marker lights on front and rear with the body work. so does it have a colorado plate still? more context with the photos would be neat.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

downforce22 the only marker lights I deleted were the rears, but decided to leave the sides on since deleting those would bring it closer looking to a 1600 from the side profile. Was kind of a spur of the moment decision at the body shop when we went over everything. And yes, it still has Colorado plates. I had bought vintage 1972 Colorado plates like 10 years ago in an antique shop I have been waiting to put on, and last year I was able to register them as a year of manufacture plate.

Ended up going to the BMWCCA Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance over the weekend for my first judged event, got some points taken away since the interior isn't quite finished, but can't be mad about a 2nd place ribbonClick image for larger version
