What is the screw connector right in the middle of the last picture...up to the left of the black grommet?
I have one on my car, but nothing there?

So, I'm going to shave all the shit I don't need out of the bay. I feel like the more I get done, the more I have to do. I'm keeping the AC, and converting to 134a.

I think actually the valves were hitting the pistons, the pistons have marks from the valves.

Pulled the head last night. I adjusted the valves first, but they were pretty much in spec. The bottom end will come out this week. I'm going to open it up out of curiosity.

Sucky dude! That sounds just like the m20 I just pulled with awful rod knock but who knows. The oil drain plug was jammed with metal shavings. Could check that as well. It was super loud.

I will check that. The car is super loud but it sounds like it's in the top end. I am going to adjust the valves just for kicks and if that doesn't do it I'm going to pull the head before I pull the motor.
