Sway bars were not hard to install once I had some friends over! The help was much appreciated and one reason I enjoy the car scene.. a lot of folks kind, willing to offer advice and even get their hands dirty.

The front end of the E30 is now buttoned up pretty well. Looks good. I bet it will feel great. Still struggling over the steering rack and power steering issue. I want period correct so see the idea of keeping the stock rack.. but hear and read so much on the greatness of the E36/E46/Z3 racks. So do I do upgraded rack w/o PS, original rack with PS......

Next up, clean the M30 a bit. Pulling the intake and valve cover off for paint.. it will look nice. Raul said he is going to polish the oil filter cover for me :-)

Had the hardest time finding a leather shift knob. Now I have two. Same thing with the wheels for a time...

Started to tear down M30. I am inexperienced with the motor and really most of this car stuff. I am taking my time, photos along the way. Will clean it up of course before it goes back together.

The rotor and cap were to be new. It seems the case. The wires, too are newer, though the wire loom is cracked and missing the front half. With the gem going of a valve cover going on, I may need to replace the wires for vanity's sake.

              Undressed:

              Cover off:

The wiring loom is rough and will likely be redone. I have this idea upon install, the simplest thing will go wrong requiring the biggest amount of work. I am trying to avoid that.

The ICV hose was cracked at the manifold. The hose to the manifold from the AFM is torn, too. I will need new manifold gaskets, too. Some simple hoses that can be replaced.

Do I clean the ICV? Able to maintain the AFM? What should I inspect/service/replace? What can I do while I have this easy access?

I did my ACS M30 valve cover in red with polished stripes and lettering.

You are not shy to use many different colors.. I've seen your rear subframes!! I am much more reserved and boring.

Come to find out, the cover is not with its original finish. This allows me some options.. I chose for it be professionally refinished. By the time I get it packaged up, I may well throw in a few more parts. The intake at least. See what else falls in the box..

Black and silver type finishes, OEM+.

Raul, through his Alpina connection, was able to confirm motor mount bushings for the E30 M30 swap. I found the best price via ECSTuning.. and am getting the worst service yet from them. They took my money and have yet to ship. I am waiting for their response to my request for further information on the delay.

Did you chose Renewed Finishes to redo the valve cover??
                    They do awesome work!

                    I love colors!!
There's a reason I chose those colors for my subframes, you'll see why when my wheels are finished.

Yes, Renewed Finishes will be the pros to do the work. Here is a sample Dave sent me of some valve cover work. Speaks for itself.

Are you going to do a lot of upgrades to the engine??
                            What about stroking it??
Don't know if the S38B38 crank will fit, but it could be a fun build to follow.

I have an old test of the S5 3,7 Silhouette.

Here are some of the specs for that engine.

Look at all that swag! If I keep this car, may stroke it one day... depends on if I can find the 3.7 AFM cover.

Not too long ago was a motor pulled from an S5 3.7 on ebay.de Only about 3500 euro. Headers, ECU, etc.
