Front sway bar bushings you see are in need of replacement. The hole has become elongated and the material itself is worn.
New bushes up top. Smaller size and no longer cut. The replacements slide on.
A cold spell has finally settled into the area. My garage offers little reprieve. I'm looking into insulating it properly and perhaps then even add a space heater.Comment

Some progress tonight. The wiper assembly is out:
I removed the four 10mm holding the wiper motor to the linkage. While the two did not seperate, it gave me a fresh perspective on the task. I finally muscled it out. I don't want to think of the job with a motor in the bay. Raul says the mono wiper goes in more easily.i look forward to that.
Was thinking of repainting the sway bar but did not want to interfere with these marks. Would these be from the factory? Or just some random paint brush strokes?
Subframe separated now from that pesky driver side LCA. Best way to seperate the lollipop and LCAB from the LCA?
Will arrange a day for the Subframe to be welded.Comment

The radiator is attached up top using headlight speedclips and #14 1.75" screws with a fender washer. Looks stock, just like the headlights attachment. I will need to research securing the bottom.
Plenty of parts are waiting to go on. Mild maintenance on the M30: oil bar banjo bolts will be checked and replaced with the new P/N, valve adjustment, new VCG, install MPEPH serviced fuel injectors, belts. I would like to clean the motor up and paint the block but I am thinking against it. Worried with the weather especially, the paint would not get good adhesion. I will paint up the manifold and valve cover, too.
I do need a power steering pump for the M30. I can use an M20 PS? Or do I need an M30? The junk yard was full of BMWs today but no M30 variants.
Subframe is being welded and back to me sometime next week. I think he is going to extend what welds were not complete by the robotic welding during manufacture. Welder is an old time speed shop, American muscle guy. I trust his work and insight. Once it is back I will get it painted.
Passenger side LCA has a torn boot and the thing is stuck to the strut assembly. Letting it soak with PB. Will pull off the lollipops and have E36 ones pressed in given my reading at RTSAuto. I am considering making the tools to do the LCA work. Put my money instead into new LCAs.
Bought the hardware, now just need the time to complete the rear bumper swap. Thank you Bradnic!
And working on my garage more with organization.. the space needs more light, too. I plan on hanging my LEDs higher and adding more of them!Comment

Just what I need, another project. I can't help, though, as the local JY has a pretty clean E46. Going to see if I can make it back soon enough and get its rack.
I'll consider this some more.
Subframe in progress. Still needs cleaned up and painted:

Just ordered new clutch line to go with the new clutch slave and rebuilt transmission.
Also new front sway links and control arms.
Really, please, let this be all. Starting to wonder when this will end,, when the driveline just goes in and I can drive it. These projects are fun but I need to see a light at the end of the tunnel.Comment

There is a 330ci at the local yard. I am thinking I need to get it. Cannot be that much, either.. you wanna make a trip? I'll keep the stock rack before I would buy one for $300.Comment

Welded and painted. The welding was continued on the reverse, too, where the factory left off in some places.

Thank you Raul. It turned out well. A local shop quoted at least $200 to weld in the reinforcements. Found a local guy from another forum I routine, quick barter and we were in business. Everything I am touching on the front is getting cleaned and painted. The flat black Krylon can I have paints really well.
FCP order came in late last night. The UPS man just laid it on the porch. He was stealthy!
In it is the UUC clutch line. My original slave and line were not causing issues but I felt better spending the money and time now to replace. When the M30 goes in, I want to have a well put together car. I also don't want to contend with the motor for space.
Old and new:
New LCAs, by Meyle, too. Kershaw will press in the new LCABs on his press. New sway links will be fitted.
Big problem now is the old LCA spindle which attaches to the strut assembly is seized. I am working on trying to free it. Tried heat, PB for days, banging from the top, hammering it from the bottom... really hope I don't need to fetch one from the junkyard....Comment
