Just curious since I have a set of gold factory weaves that were spray painted silver, and I want to see if I can strip only the cheap silver off.

Rustoleum aircraft finish remover. Used about a can maybe a tiny bit more for the two faces and the two green waffle caps front back and the threads lug holes etc.

It works great for spray paint, it is time consuming though to get each nook and cranny covered with a thin layer so it just doesn't drip off. 100% worth it though! If weaves have the same factory paint as these you should be left with a nice factory finish. $13 a can at Walmart + gloves and tooth brushes. I already had gloves, but you will probably need at least 10 gloves. If you get too much stripper on them they start to deteriorate and the stripper gets through to your skin and starts to feel weird (nothing crazy but no bueno). It's really not a lot before they start bubbling, at least for nitrile gloves which I use.

I got a 6 pack of medium toughness toothbrushes for $1 total at walmart as well. It's worth getting a paint mask thing too if you don't have one. Washing the stripper off the wheels makes it really fumey and I would not be too comfortable cleaning the wheels off without a face mask on unless I was outside with a hose. During the actual brushing I wasn't always wearing mine and I didn't really notice any fumes, but it definitely reacts with HOT water especially. Cold water congeals it, a lukewarm mix is good.

Thanks! I'm going to attempt it when it's warmer.

After refinishing a set of RS', I can't say that I would ever do it again. Get a tumbler for the bolts, it's the best way to clean em IMO, but without buying new stainless ones, it's extremely difficult to not have them chip/rust unless you have someone coat 'em. Have fun sanding the lips haha. I think I did 800-1200-1500-2000-2200-2500 or something of the sort.

Making some progress on the faces, looked up how to prep and some people said 800 but I went with 220 because there were some deposits of something. Going to go self etching primer then tons of thin coats of "brushed metallic" spray paint we have at walmart. Then it's time for the lips to be sanded XD

Did some more sanding in the minor deposits that were left, primed and painted! I'm very pleased with the finish! Getting a spray paint spray gun is definitely a big help. Also cleared the heads and got all paint off the face both sides. 2 coats of etching primer, and 2 of regular primer, and 3 of brushed metallic......

Still need to do waffles, 3 more faces and lips XD but it's coming along great!

That's how I polished mine. Makes it pretty easy. I just held 1200 grit wet sandpaper to them. At some point I'll remove the bolts and valves and redo it with 2000 grit, the silicone will keep it glued together. After cleaning my bolts initially and clearing them, the clear just flaked off the bolts and lips. I'm going to go SS bolts and just keep the lips polished.

Looking good. I refinished my OZ turbos. I've heard of letting bolts sit in Coca cola over night to clean them up. for my lips I wet sanded them starting at 120 grit all the way up to 3000 grit and then went over them with a buffing wheel and compounds for a nice cut on bare aluminum and then went over it with mothers mag an aluminum polish and they came out really nice. I also used some eastwood BBS silver spray paint and it looks awesome.

Microfiber cloth. Rub it in until
It turns the rag black and then wipe off.

                          With another microfiber?

Sanded 3 of the waffles down, finished clearing all of the bolts! Stripped the last face, some of the paint is still stuck. PITA but it's coming along still. Can't wait to see them on the car
