    What would you do

Looking for some opinions/suggestions from everyone. I have two E30's that neither is in running condition. One is a '86 325es and the other a '91 325ix. I am thinking about blending these two cars together to make one, and am looking for some ideas on a motor.

Do I build a 2.7 stroker and turbo it? Or a NA 2.7 stroker with ITB's? Or do I swap in a S54? I like the idea of using what I already have, but don't want to be short sighted because of it. Thoughts?

What do you want? A stoker and turbo will be high end power that will be insanely fun but will take time to perfect. ITB's give better throttle response but not a ton of gains on the m20 but still fun with kickass sound. an s54 is the best option in my opinion because the s54 will give you a great powerband and will sound awesome. If you've got the pocket and time I say S54 all the way

hey op. why don't you try make one running reliable car first from the two. Then once you have overcome that feat decide on engine mods.

That is sort of the intention. But this car would not be a daily driver, or even the sole play car. The goal here is to build a car that goes very well. I have had other E30's in the past, one of them a M50 swap that has some work done to it, and am looking to build some a little more than that.

A 2.7 turbo ix would be cool, but as I understand after following Nisse Järnet and some other ix guys, getting an ix to put up with big power gets quite expensive. You can't go wrong with a 2.7 turbo RWD E30 though, NA M20 builds seem to be a fool's errand or a rich man's glory if you're in pursuit of power.
