Any reason you didn't use a more dense foam/filler on the steering wheel? The pipe foam you're using doesn't seem ideal.

It’s not pipe foam. It’s adhesive backed closed cell 1/8” foam. Should be good. You want a little squish to get the suede tight

Still stitching. A little here and there in my free time. Already planning a V2.

Sometimes you gotta break it down before you build it up.

                          With cupholder

Relocating the battery to the back. This will replace the battery in the stock location

                            Out with the old...

Boring, I know. I’ve just got several things at 80% completion and I need to wrap stuff up. I want to focus on getting the engine bay wrapped up which means finishing sheet metal work, which means relocating the battery, oh and while I have the ECU out, I may as well do the Motronic 1.0 to 1.3 swap.

I think I’m going to paint the bay to match the cardinal interior. Might only be temporary, but for now at least. Like this....

                            (except not bright red)

Funnily enough, I was looking through an old photo album my parents had and turns out my dad had his “project car” parked in the same place mine is and they were kind of similar colors.

No pics of this weekend’s work. More boring stuff.
-Converted from 1.0 to 1.3 (that was actually more complicated than I thought)
-Relocated battery to hatch (Haven’t bolted it down just yet. Need to verify location)
-Converted to late model headlight switch (only for availability purposes)
-Thinned out the front harness and put Amazon ends on stuff so I can get the front lighting working.

I now have a working 073 DME if anyone needs one.
