Weather was pretty nice today, in the mid 60's so I was able to get a little painting of my own done that I have been putting off waiting for winters cold to subside.
The brake booster will be needed to set the system in place so I can create all new lines in the original style so it needed to be prepped and refinished.
Here it is, from my donor car with all its dust, dirt and cosmoline inplace.
There would be no way to really save this sticker, no worries I had Pukar Designs make me a new one as part of the sticker package I ordered.
Just above the vacuum port there was a moderate dent that had to be sorted out. I used a bent stainless rod with a round end to reach in through the master cylinder hole and massage the dent most of the way out (like PDR) and then use a little metal glaze to skim the area. Once that was done and dried it was sanded, blocked, filler primed and blocked again.
Setup for painting outside in the sun, cleaned and degreased.
Yes I did make the foam gasket, it is left over factory hood liner foam.
The first hood liner set I ordered was missing one of the three sections so the dealer reordered it for me and damaged out the incomplete set, and then gave me it. Has been put to use elsewhere in the car too.
I went by Imperial Collision this evening on unrelated business and checked out the car while i was there. It is all masked off and near completed with blocking. It should be in the paint booth later this week getting exterior color and clear.
