Got the oil pan on and the top end is pretty much all buttoned up as well. Waiting on the harness to be completed and then I gotta start figuring out the small annoying details of the build haha.
you can just pack it with a bit of assembly lube so it doesn't cavitate. crank it over a few times with the FP relay disconnected to get some oil built up and you should be good.
You should prime the pump before tossing the pan on? - After oil filter housing.
Spotted, Fan party hat.
Hehe. I actually did what nando suggested. i dropped assembly lube in it and will definitely prime the sucker before allowing the car to fire up.

Starting to look like a motor. The oil filter housing is not mounted fully yet because I need to modify the E46 M3 heater pipe to integrate a coolant pipe to the reservoir. The Z4M piece is like $230 O_O for a metal pipe. That's not happening... S54 bits are expensive enough as it is... would rather spend that on something I actually need.
You should check out the csl replica intakes or S54 velocity stacks both require a Alpha N ish tune of some sort and add 20-30 hp. I believe Kassel will preload the tune for the upgraded intake on to there swap dme. If that's the route your taking.

I have actually explored that... It's a little over $1800 for the one that is designed to fit the E30. That's not in the cards currently lol. I can do a lot with that kinda money. Maybe later on though because I do definitely want that plenum!
Modified the E46 coolant pipe to integrate the E30 coolant reservoir.
Now its a proper M motor LOL:
Transfer pipe:
I couldn't justify the $240 Z4 M coolant pipe from BMW... with this route I can keep my E30 reservoir and not worry about any interference with the A/C lines once I reach that stage in the build.
