Well ive been really swamped with work and school, so things have been going a good bit slower then i would like but, i have made a good bit of progress. I took the whole rear out and re did it with boxed strut tops. the front is about 50% done at the moment, The cage is getting close and closer to geting done. Hopefully i will get my plasma cutter and mig welder soon so i can start work on the sheet metal and reinforcement gussets. IT getting tired of constatly going to home depot to get grinder cutting wheels, so its time to get the miller spectrum 375 extreme i have wanted. Anyways here are the pics
My tube notcher broke too, so it now has a hole saw bit welded on to one end, and it works great
i started getting my dipple die's too :D
Since some of the sports and a pain in the ass to get to i went out and got a new weldcraft WP-24, and wow what a differance it makes welding in tricky sportsI wanna go Fast

I'm not sure if some of you quite get it, it's a race car, he'll always have a helmet on, and the shin gaurds... well, his toes could touch the bar, but he'd have to be humping the backside of the gauges to get his shins even close to those bars.'89 325i track sloot

The project as described is a "replica DTM racer". That does not make it a race car. Constructing the car based on rules mandated by whatever orginazation he is going to race with AND having the car pass tech makes it a race car. Until then it will not race, it will simply be a "replica" - and as it sits a dangerous one at that.
I'm not trying to be a jerk about it but, pointing out potential problems at this stage makes it a LOT easier to fix rather than waiting until the car is "finished". As it sits, the cage is not legal for most race organizations without having a diagonal brace in the main hoop. The main hoop will also dictate his seat location, which as is will likely result in interference of said shins and that diagonal bracing on the drivers side.
I know he is using a Tilton floor setup from earlier in his post. Those will allow him to move away from the firewall but, my hoop is further back than his and I can put my foot flat against the firewall with my leg still bent. Point being, unless he is very short there will likely be some clearance issues.
