this was my original plan, but when I calculated the cost in terms of both dollars and time, it ended up being cheaper to just buy a rack: https://saferacks.com/products/storage-bin-rack-copy

headsup, though. These racks require a bin slightly bigger than standard Home Depot ones.

More comfortable and less cold? But how do you keep it clean from oil, coolant, road debris, etc?

Precisely, makes me actually wanna work on my car if I have a comfy carpet to lie on and it makes the place feel more cozy, it's like working on your car in your living room! That is the downside, it is a grease trap but I just lay a few moving blankets on top, eventually it'll be too greasy but I got it for free so might as well use it!

I would just lay some carpet down on a creeper at that point.

We scored a bunch of boxes of FLOR carpet tiles that I intend to use “workshop” section once I set up toolboxes/workbenches.

See but it's all about the feeling and aesthetic of it, while everyone else sweeps their garage, I vacuum my garage

Probably helps with audio too. Mine is very echoy.
And I imagine it does a bit for heat loss through the slab.

Carpet in my garage would be like 50% rust at this point...

I needed the density a 32-box rack offered (could only have it in the one corner) and needed it to be on wheels for access to the the house water shutoff and a couple other things.

The other thing about the build is it's designed to work with all the major yellow-and-black 27-gal bins (they're a bit different for each retailer)
