So email and call as many places during your school time. Best of luck to you if you decide UTI.

Just remember, at the end of the day it's not all about you, and all the variables created by all the outside influences there will be where your issues will fall, which puts you ahead of a lot of folks that will be your classmates but, they are what will drag you down.

I've never gone to UTI, and obviously have no intentions of doing so, but I had a buddy that graduated there a year or two ago. Nicest guy you would ever meet, willing to help out out no matter what.

From what he told me, UTI's "guaranteed job after graduating" was that they posted open job listing on some wall. That's it. You had to do the leg work after that, and they wouldn't help you. Fuck that.

He graduated, and could not find a job anywhere. He moved away, and last I heard about him from mutual friends was that he was working at a Midas or some shit like that, with absolutely no money to his name. I haven't heard from him in over 1.5 years. I feel bad.

That's more than I pay out of pocket for schooling at a high ranking 4 year university. You're doing something wrong.

I would assume I'm about your age, and I can safely tell you that reality and the "real world" is going to bitch slap you when you get out of UTI.

And, not to put the death blow to your bubble, but just because their name is in it, I'll "guarantee after you graduate" that no NASCAR team will even wipe their ass with the diploma you get.

It's called marketing, and you got sold. In some circles, you'd be called a "mark".

i know uti isnt going to land the job for me, i expect to go out and have to dig one up. and i believe itll give me a better chance of geting hired, over someone that didnt go to uti, and doesn't have any experience. and, ive worked too long in minimum wage with full time shifts, and only bringing in around 200 a week. thats not going to cut it for me.

and for the last time i do not want a nascar job lol

i dont want to go to a 4 year university. i pulled a unweighted 3.6 gpa all through hs, with universitys in mind, but i decided i dont want to go that route. i think im doing something right, when the tuition is like 34k and i got more than half knocked out.

I'd hire the you with 18 months of Jiffy Lube before I'd hire the you after 14 months of UTI and 4 months of job huntin'.

Honestly, I admire your work ethic and enthusiasm, and I believe those qualities can take you far in life, no matter what profession you're in. I just think you have a very idealistic view on things, and you're going to be really disappointed when you're faced with real life situations.

I mean, look. You have numerous people who have worked in the auto industry, and almost all of them are saying that UTI grads are looked down upon in a sense. They're basically like the Communication majors of the business world, basically a "Mickey Mouse" degree. There has to be a reason for that.

$200 a week on minimum wage. If money is what you are after, maybe look at a different profession. Or even a different career while still being in the auto industry. Like I mentioned earlier about my friend, he literally had no money to his name, was working at some tire shop, and still had to pay off those huge school debts.
I mean $200 is almost what I make in a day, and I'm not trying to brag or anything, it just seems you want to make a decent living, and I think you will be sorely disappointed.

I have no idea. Maybe something more on the managerial/corporate side of things, where you're still involved in the industry, but aren't relegated to shop bitch and have more opportunites for advancement/salary?
You said you had a 3.6 GPA in HS, so I doubt you're a total dumbass like some kids I knew.

my weighted avg in HS with honors classes was around a 4.0, unweighted it was a 3.6.

im just going to give it a shot, and give it my 100%, and if it takes me no where, i can come back and say, you all were right. Atleast im dreaming, and picking a dream to chase, unlike 90% of todays youth that is still stuck in they're parents house at the age 25 with nothing going for them because they never chased or pursued anything.
