And check this out - just a pic I found of Hans Mezger in the engineering offices. I was trying to figure out why they had a 4 cyl head gasket drawing....a 924? Looked closer at that valve cover.....it's the V8 Indy engine.

This 917 won Le Mans in 1971. The average speed record lasted for 39 years. it also won the index of efficiency. Air-cooled flat 12 produced 600 hp. It raced only one time, then went to the Porsche museum.
