^^^ That was my former 400 ft-lb breaker bar, with a 4' pipe and me on the end. We figure we got it up to 250 or 300, and the flywheel nut threads had locktite.

He had this cool old bible.

It was such a tight fit to get through that opening and line up the input shaft and bell housing bolts. The j-pipes hang up on the axles, the generator bolt hangs up on the rear floor, the bell housing binds up because we had the block tilted wrong, and the tailpipe hit the bottom of the body.

He had it on the street the next day after some clutch adjustments.

Sharing this here since it may be the birth of a new passion.

Made a friend at the gym. Older guy near retirement. Wife and I meet him at his house before dinner one Friday. Notice 911 shit all over his house. Shows me his 30,000 mile two owner 993 in the garage. Mention I'm a car guy, but know little about Porsches, just BMW's mostly. He mentions a desire to restore an old 930 or 964 911, but he doesn't have the necessary skills to restore one. I tell him I have no desire to finance the restoration of a 911, but I would love to do the work and learn about them in the process.

Meeting him this Sunday to take his 993 for a spin a bit south of town. Will update with pictures afterwards.

Maybe something will come of it. Maybe not. At the very least I get to see what all the hype is about.

Thats going to be fun. I love building cars with other peoples' money! haha

I love 911s, but after having driven a few, I dont get it.

You're telling me that because its so imbalanced, and dangerous to drive that its the best... mmmm ok

I DO want a Cayman though... we'll see what happens

My coworker who had a Caymen S and has driven a bunch of 911's on track said exactly the same thing.

And here's a cool thread about an Italian-designed flat six with twin cam, 3-valve heads. Bonomelli.
3 valve, twin cam, twin spark, flat pistons, special parts, 1300 (180cv), 2000 (270cv)and 2700 (330 cv) cc. i'm already shocked. for now look at the pictures. 219705 219706 219707 219708

This car raced with it in 1971.

Porsche quiz for you all - (I don't know the answer)

What is this car? Flat six, top fan cooling, mid-engine, open top. Is it a variation of a 908? A lightweight spider or hillclimb car? I just don't recognize the shape from this angle. I see maybe "Super Sports Cup" on the side, and "Davison." Any ideas?

Oh, could it be this car, the 908-2 Spyder? The red one above has a different rear bulkhead shape behind the cockpit.
