As I remember, President Obama ran against the Iraq war, saying it required resources that should have been used for the "good" war in Afghanistan. So, if that's true it's not entirely out of character to deploy them.

I'm gonna keep the rest of my opinions to myself.

what??? How are we not affected? LMAO. I don't even know where to begin addressing this one. The world over is affected by the US' actions!

And to those I have offended in this thread. I'd suggest to reread it from the beggining and sharpen your comprehension skillzzzz, as you'll find nothing offensive, pro or anti-Republican/Democrate/US whatsoever. You'll just find an article from a UK newspaper... So put another Tampax in your waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles until your periods are over ... ;)
I make an effort to stay out of off-topic both here and on other US-based car forums (ESPECIALLY BIMMERFORUMS). I've stumbled in seen a few of your polical/social posts over the past while, and even though I've never had any personal contact with you, I usually 100% agree with your opinion. I'd never bother posting my personal thoughts though, as it's like talking to a brick wall. I think the anonymity of a forum lets people become extremely brave; the amount of racist/prejudice/ignorant opinions shared openly (and supported by others) is pretty damn scary. Hell I've argued over putting members in timeout in response to (in my opinion) insanely racist remarks with the mod staff in the past and gotten nowhere. Not saying that any of this is happening in this thread, just sharing how bad the situation is.

Just do what I do, and steer clear.

man that cut deep. i love the fact youre in favor of this douche sending more troops with the stipulation they will be pulled out in 6 months. let me ask you something dumbass...
if you were the bad guy in afghanistan and you knew the USA would pull out in 6 months what would you do?? if you commit troops you dont reveal a timeline. this just shows again and again obama has no business running anything higher level than a kool aid stand. you are the weakest fuck ive ever come across with zero backbone. so little in fact you couldnt trust yourself to stay away from r3v so you have a mod delete your old account. load the bong holmsie. take the edge off

Well, I must be the only person here who voted (with reservations) for Obama and who doesn't have a problem with this. He did say during the campaign that he was going to focus on Afghanistan. At the end of the campaign, the situation there began declining...sending troops makes sense now, but did not during the campaign. Circumstances change.

I've been to Afghanistan. I have the t-shirt. Spent 6 months at Bagram helping the Army with IED's.

What I can't figure is where they will put 30,000 troops?

There is no Howard Johnson or Ramada there. Even Bagram was overlowing a few years ago with its resources strained. Everything to house, feed and support those 30,000 troops needs to be trucked in through Pakistan.

Even then, 30,0000 troops will make absolutely no difference. Trust me...

It would be cheaper and more effective just to bribe all of the Afghanis.

The fact that troops are being increased is not the criticizing point, but the fact that he said one thing and is doing another.

Now with a republican president, at least he would have said in his campaign that he would increase troops, and then he would have went ahead and did it.

    see my point?

to condense it even further: Obama = hypocritical.
    actually you're an idiot.

Obama said during the election that he was going to wind down things in Iraq and focus on Afghanistan. He is following through exactly with what he said.
