Perhaps you should find a new job anyways since you didn't have coverage or were not responsible enough to get health insurance. Even if your fiscally challenged like quite a few American's and just couldn't afford it - what have you contributated to society that anyone else should pay for you to get coverage? What has anyone else done or contributed to society that they deserve YOU paying for their health coverage?

Just a few thoughts to stew over.

I personally think the road conditions (at least where I live) are retardedly poor for how much we're taxed on it. To speculate what it would be like with even less funds going towards it and more towards those that don't have coverage is staggeringly painful.

I respect that you want to pay into a health care system for others. Alright, nice for you. I'll gladly stop paying my families health insurance and you can take that over for me. Even better, to reduce the cost you can get your friends to chip in also. I imagine with enough people the cost wouldn't even be that much per person! Lucky you! See what I did there? I saved you money. The total is irrelevent really then. So, I wont send you the bill, just let you know how much it is per month. Why would you trust me? Because well, I'm a swell guy.

This fucking nonsense is why we are in such a mess. You probably also think we have the best healthcare system in the world.

Let me tell you something, as someone who does have a good job with a perfectly great plan, if I happen to wind up with a long-term illness or injury the first fucking thing I'm doing is moving to Switzerland or Japan, where I'll actually stand a chance of being able to pay all the bills.

And if you think your insurance plan isn't already "paying for everyone else's insurance" or that it's no contradiction to bitch about entitlement programs and then also bitch about medicare funding being cut.. then I suppose there is no hope.

I hope people feel patriotic by derailing what started as a great idea that might actually make the nation's workforce competitive.

Now, if you want to revamp the system to make it work better

It already IS an intitlement program. You show up in ER, you get treatment. They can't deny you.
It should be like the fire dept. There is a fire, it gets put out. No middlement BS.

And your revamp plan is a pipe dream. For as long as insurance companies are out on the stock market, it will not be cheaper than a social plan. They have motivation to drop people. Medical is NOT the place for them.

Don't listen to the noise they are making to derail all efforts. What should be 1/12 of the economy or less is 1/6 because of all this middle-man racket crap.

SO how is jacking the tax rates gonna make us competitive again????

How is O-care gonna make our labor market with a minimum wage that pays more in an hour than other markets we are supposed to be competing with pay in a day, how is that gonna work again????

How is taxing corps and the "rich" going to keep jobs here and keep them from not shutting the US office and moving to Liechtenstein, or Guatemala????

        just some thing to contemplate

Y,a it will be so great when obama care is making you pay 10 bucks for a bigmac, 20 for cigs, taxes everywhere because stuff isn't "healthy".

Bama says he's gunna start exporting goods and services... How do you export services??? These liberal douches in office don't give a fuck about your health. If you really think they do you need a reality check. This is just all a giant leap onto the road of a socialist nation. After taking over health care the US gov. will own 56% of the united states economy. That's fucking fantastic. If you live in china.

Oh and I find it hilarious how jobs are obamas number 1 priority. Yet what the fuck does he continue to talk about? Health Care... The people DON'T fucking want it!! It's failed once already to go through. He hasn't done a fucking thing to create any type of economic stimulation. Last month 36k people lost their jobs and obama said it was a good thing, or that it was better than expected.

These progressive movement crowds need to be eliminated. Obama will do WHATEVER it takes to get this health care bill through, he plans on fucking over his whole party in the house. But these progressives motto is do what it takes as the end result will be greater. He will do WHATEVER it takes.

I really hope and pray (to myself) that this bill isn't passed. If it is I hope well for everyone as shits gunna hit the fan.

When you guys get your census pamphlets in the mail, under the race question, put other, and write AMERICAN.

The good thing is the american people are waking up and searching for the truth. Obamas little "gang" is not gunna last to much longer.

                a. you are correct about emergency rooms. However, they are wanting to expand it to cover everything. Penis pills, backaches and all of the other bullshit that runs up costs for little to no reason. And they also want to include comprehensive care, which doesnt exist.

                b. your idea that a public vs. private cost and reasoning is idiotic and baseless, nothing more to say about that.

                c. See b, that kind of baseless shit is the very noise you are talking about. The CONSUMERS make it x amount of the economy, not the producers.

                  you youngsters just wait
if obama gets his way, you think this is going to be free?
there is going to be a mandate you purchase healthcare insurance.
and now that insurance companies have to provide certain benefits to every policy holder, whether you need it or not, it will increase the cost of what young people pay and reduce the cost of what older people pay
are all you 20yr olds ready to ante up 400 clams a month?

Are we playing "probably thinks", now? I can play to!

I bet you think big business types that are wealthy don't do enough for society as a whole? You probably think these evil, productive people deserve less money for the hard work they put in?

Have fun in Japan or Switzerland. Most of the points you even brought up have been addressed. As someone recently above this post said, you're off base completely.

400/month would be a discount from what my deductions and employer kick in. nobody said it would be free.

and I do have a problem with "big business types" if they are totally screwing people just to make a dime.

Defending someone's ability to make $400 million in a year ain't gonna help me, and I'm not dumb enough to think that if I work hard I could be that guy. Totally fucking a lot of people is the only way to get there.

No, it's an estimate of the salary+benefits of insurance company executives.

Also, a 2% profit margin in a multi-billion industry is huge, and you know this.

and yes I did, why do you think I made the point. 400mill is a big number but when its made on volume that = 2% of the gross its not so big anymore in the grand scope and is a fair intensive to provide services. (and pardon the assumption)

Yes, $400m is a tiny fraction of the operating profit of insurance companies. I'm not sure what your point is.

I don't personally disagree with you. However, this is symbolic because the federal government supersedes the state government. This is basically why the Civil War was fought.

I think this is bullshit because it prohibits ANY attempt at health care reform. If it would have prohibited just the most recent bill that Congress has been toying with, then it would have been fine. But to prohibit any reform is just counter productive. The health care system in this country is broken. It needs to be fixed and Virginia is not helping by passing this.

Health care reform in this country needs three things. Any bill would need to prohibit insurance companies from turning down people for pre-existing conditions. It would also need to mandate purchase of insurance. It would also need to have some aspect of price control whether this be a public option or fixed prices. A bill like this would still offer plenty of opportunity for competition.
