    So Virginia bans O-Care

    just the 1st few lines
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia's General Assembly became the first in the nation Wednesday to approve legislation that bucks any attempt by President Obama and Congress to implement national health care overhaul in individual states.

The Republican-ruled House of Delegates, with wide Democratic support, voted 80-17 without debate for the largely symbolic step aimed at the Democratic-backed reforms pushed by Obama and stalled in Congress. The vote sends the measure to Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell who intends to sign it.

Uht O Seems the that there is some monkey wrenches tossed into the plan, 34 states are considering following suit.

Ah, I was waiting for a good politics thread to show up. This is the recently-much-touted budget plan brought forth by Paul Ryan:

It's gotta be hard to come up with a plan that raises taxes for 90% of everyone and still loses $200b of tax revenue.

Be interesting to see context with respect to total tax in percent of income on that plan. When we looked at taxes paid by Kansans in 1996 for high school it was hilarious how much people $400k and up were paying.

Shit, even my parents have gotten fucked by the alternative minimum tax.
        Im now E30less.

Obama isn't listening to America - we don't want this plan as it is way too expensive and will eliminate competition.

Obama wants to take over the Auto industry, the Banking industry and now, the Health care industry.

Meanwhile, people are losing jobs and all he can do is point fingers.

That's not leadership, that's excuse making and won't accomplish much other than CYA

He's doing exactly what his critics said he would.

please read the 9th and 10th amendments to the Constitution and then get back to me, to I can explain what they mean to you. Then you will get why this is not symbolic.

Where do you work again? Like working there?

Perhaps you should find a new job anyways since you didn't have coverage or were not responsible enough to get health insurance. Even if your fiscally challenged like quite a few American's and just couldn't afford it - what have you contributated to society that anyone else should pay for you to get coverage? What has anyone else done or contributed to society that they deserve YOU paying for their health coverage?

Just a few thoughts to stew over.

I personally think the road conditions (at least where I live) are retardedly poor for how much we're taxed on it. To speculate what it would be like with even less funds going towards it and more towards those that don't have coverage is staggeringly painful.

I respect that you want to pay into a health care system for others. Alright, nice for you. I'll gladly stop paying my families health insurance and you can take that over for me. Even better, to reduce the cost you can get your friends to chip in also. I imagine with enough people the cost wouldn't even be that much per person! Lucky you! See what I did there? I saved you money. The total is irrelevent really then. So, I wont send you the bill, just let you know how much it is per month. Why would you trust me? Because well, I'm a swell guy.

In actuality I had been laid off from my old job at BMW because of the slumping econ.

This was only 2 years after from returning from my second tour overseas with the USAF...I was pressing on the crank bearings on a engine that I was rebuilding to sell, so I could pay rent.

Needless to say the arbor plate slipped out from the crank and my finger was crushed....

So now im about 3 weeks out of work, no medical and not alot of cash. I went to the hospital anyway because I was bleeding like a stuck pig. They tell me I MUST have Xrays and some stitches. I refuse the Xrays after learining that the cost for 3 exposures without insurance would be around $4000. The doc stitches me up and I leave. I'm such a dumbass for assuming the low cost of the procedure

3 weeks later I get the $3700 bill for emergencgy room treatment and 4 (FOUR) stitches.

Tell me how exactly that this shit is ok? It isnt! I worked hard my whole life, never been out of work, hut myself once and bingo im fucked. There are pleanty of HARD WORKING people that would benefit from this. And to be honest im willing to spend more money out of every current paycheck to grant this for people.

I pay for my current insurance plus copays and its not cheap, to be honest I dont think its being managed well.

Healthcare is one of the only industries where pricefixing and elevated costs of supplies (read gouging for 4 stitches) is legal.

Well that doctor had to go to school to be allowed to make four stitches. He most likely spent many more years with a book open than you did. I mean do you want sympathy from us for you not having it together. You want us (the majority) to dismantle a system that works for those that earn it so that you can pay what you think is fair. Moan all you want, I'm very happy that you received the stitches and I also hope you recover soon and without problems.

What do you mean not having it togeather? I was laid off with no notice from a large company...it can happen to anyone.

Thats the point im trying to make, I dont need sympathy for my now healed finger(thank you).

The point is that anyone of us could be victim of this sort of situation and then have no where to go...except for in debt or without proper care.

                              and it sucks

Oh and the system doesnt work $3700 for stitches is asnine!

and while im pissing everyone off: Abortion is a wormans right, gun laws, seatbelt laws and helmet laws should all be repealed, 18 to drink/smoke, legalize weed, death row should be no longer than 6 months
