Doesn't really solve my space complaint though.

STi's are still holding to much value at this point. I'm considering a new WRX as well, 265hp and AWD could be fun.

Markets must be different cause you can get like an 06 or 07 here for like low 20's.. I bought my 07 new and had to sell it for like 24 when I got outta it. Didn't lose money though so that's a plus (made like $2k actually).

There is an '06 for sale locally in the low 20s here, and it has 70k+ miles on it.

Yeah that's kinda rough... If you're not opposed to travel, you could expand your search. I sold my '07 last year for like $24k-ish and it had like 32k miles on it... There are similar deals around, but you pretty much have to go with a private party since the dealers are still asking round $30k for 06+

If you can love a car despite glaring imprefections, maybe check out the B5 S4. But it'll take a few bolt-ons to be as quick as the Z, and it definitely won't be dead reliable.

I think the Forester (XT) could be on the fun scale. The non-turbo'd you make an argument.

5toes - Good to hear, I assume she went with the auto though? Let me know how it fairs regardless.
Take that back, it is an XS. Still extremely cheap though. It is mint!

Yes she went with an auto.

the mazdaspeed3/6 can get 300whp with a standard tune that comes with the accessport iirc.

the ms6 is quite a blast to be in. i have a friend with one (non accessport tuned) and it has 270whp. that car launches forward like crazy. pin you in the seat torque with awd. nuts.

btw, i can get a small sofa or full size loveseat or 60" plasma tv into my rx8... maybe you should test drive one... you can get them for under 15k and i know you wont get tired of it. if you get tired of the lack of torque however.. get a used greddy kit for $2k. even at only 6 psi thats 250hp/200lbs/ft at the rear wheels.

I rode in my bosses RX-8, great handling don't think I could handle the lack of power or terrible gas mileage.

I don't drive as much as some, but still commute about 45 miles a day.

gmt-800, tahoe/pick up for a DD, and or even a well kept GMT-700. And then you can get the sport bike, or really fun High Power car.

The GMT's are cheap to run maintenance wise, and reliable as a stone, easy to work on, have plenty of room and power to do what ever you need. mileage is 19-21 so long as you stay off the e85. And will drink the regular all day long.

You get the multi car discount you get utility and you get have the fun car you really want.

Just for a idea I just bought a 99 Tahoe, Loaded with everything 4x4 and CLEAN as hell no rust, new tires breaks and fluids everything (needs shocks though) no leaks and strong trans with 106K on it for 6500 bucks. They sell for a little less than that for simialr but this was the color combo I wanted. You ought to be able to swing that and have a lotus to have the best of both worlds. Drive the lotus most of the time, and in the winter, or when its shitty out or need to haul shit you have the tahoe
