Depends what your needs are. Do you want something for a 20 minute commute to work and a few afternoon rides on the weekend or do you want something you can hop on and take off for a week on? Streetfighters are fun but very impractical.

Looking at picking up an f800gs this coming week I think...can't wait!

Going on a 5 day bike trip with my Father-in-law and Brother-in-law next month. I found some cheap saddle bags at Wal-mart believe it or not and they seem to fit fairly well. Lets just hope the straps hold together!

Test fit, I will probably adjust their positioning a bit.

Sounds exciting! I've always wanted to go on a long ride, but none of my friends are ever willing to do so :(

Yeah it should be awesome. We plan to head to Deals Gap to ride the tail of the dragon a few times. They did it last year and I am going along this year.

I had this when I was 16 years old. 125cc with about 30hp.

Now I don't feel safe with less then 4 wheels on the tarmac.

Good first bike guys? I'm a taller guy around 220lbs, looking into getting an 80-something vf1000r. My friends said get a 600 or 750, but I feel an old liter bike with the same power as a modern 750 or 600wouldn't be a bad idea. Once I'm comfortable on the bike I'm going to want to go faster I figured I would keep the bike and build it up (no replacement for displacement, the bike was tuned down from the factory) instead of getting bored with a 600, selling it, and buying a new bike every time the power feels insignificant.

                  Jah bless! :pimp:

^One of the best sounding bikes ever!

I really like those bikes but keep in mind they are from a different era than the current breed of bikes. The tire sizes are unusual so your options are limited, It's a little heavy, the suspension and brake are a little weaker than new bikes. Since you are a bigger dude it should be fine. Did i mention how good those bikes sound?!

Sounds cool. Yeah if I get the bike inverts and a brake upgrade will be coming. What do you mean by tire sizes being odd? Do they not make narrower tires for bikes like that any more or have those tires gone the way of 13" and 14" tires for cars?

they are bias-ply, you don't get the variety of radials. a lot of people do wheel swaps from CBRs for better tire selection

All V4's sound good, but a VF100R is a big bang V4 like a RC30 Honda and sounds completely different. Typical V4's have 180 degree cranks while the bike the OP is looking at has a 360 degree crank.

OP, As mentioned the wheels take bias ply tires but also are of unusual size so the choices get small.
