My 6d showed up yesterday , I'm stoked to start shooting full frame.
Congrats on the New rig, You will love it, I LOVE mine I really wish when I was gone traveling it could have ALL my gear with since I got my 6D, rather than just my OMD kit

Thanks for the heads up on the firmware update for the 6d!
Currently I've got a 24-105l and a 85 1.8, but I'm really lusting after a 35 prime. Sounds like the Sigma is a pretty good competitor to the Canon 35L. Any of you guys have any experience with either lens? Im thinking about selling the 85 to put towards the 35 purchase, I don't really shoot portraits at all and I really want a wide prime for walk around stuff.
35 is not really all that wide I would be looking at a at least the 28mm F1.8 or the 20mm F2.8 I have an older 17-35 and I find my self shooting it between 20-28mm more than anything

William Pitt-
I have been collecting parts for this for about a year and a half. just finally purchased my last lens to complete my set.
pictured is a wista sp 4x5 with collapsable prism view finder and bag bellows
65mm lens on recessed wide angle lens board with center spot filter
90mm
180mm
270mm on the camera
360mm
sekonic 508 exposure meter
wista lens hood
sinar roll film holder that shoots 6x4.5,6x6,6x7,6x9, and 6x12
all in all, if this were purchased new, there is well over 20k in that photo. purchased used, probably about an eighth of that.

Looking through my photos I've noticed that shoot between 24-40 the most. Im worried that the 24l might be a touch too wide and a 50 is too tight imo. I'd love to pick up the 16-35l but thats far too much money right now, plus I prefer the idea of a prime versus a zoom when it comes to a walk around street lens.
Of course a zoom is going to be more practical in terms of walk around but I really want a "wider" prime to stick on the camera and leave on for all general uses.
Also I should note that I did own a 40mm pancake with my 60d and hardly ever used it, not sure why really since that is a pretty useable Focal length.
Yeah I understand the prime thing, My travel rig is a Olympus m4/3's OMD and all I have in my travel kit is Primes and I do use my 17mm A LOT (but its a 34mm equivalent when figure in the crop).
If your shooting a 24-105 at 24-40 at most I think the 28mm would be your best option all around as for a walk about lens your prolly going to find the 35 to be just a little bit too long. I do with my 17mm on my OMD, and really wish we had a fast prime other than the 12mm (f2 that I just cant seem to bring myself to buy) that would get me into 20mm equivalent range
One from about 4 hours ago, and my 6d and 24-105
and a few hours before that on a little hike just below the snow line, about a 1/2 a mile up the trail the snow was still 2 feet deep.
Edit:
Just happened to check the KP forecast for the night and it looked like we had a slight chance to see the Aurora. With it being clear and No moon tonight I decided to stay up and see what I could see. Had them low on the horizon from about midnight to 4am

well, everybody has their preferences but for me, it doesn't make sense to cary around a bunch of prime lenses when i am trying to travel lightly. i would rather carry a couple good zooms and a tripod.
for canon, i have the sigma 18-250 f3.5-6.3. i think it cost around 450.00 or so. as you mentioned, i mostly shoot at the wide end of the spectrum too. now, the quality of this lens is fantastic for the price. it isn't a canon "L" pro lens but it is much smaller, lighter, doesn't cost 2000 bucks. i also have a 15mm fisheye that i love for wides. the next lens on my shopping list is the tokina 11-16mm f2.8. i would also suggest a good accessory bounce flash which can be used to great effect in many situations.
