          Sometimes I really miss mine.

Bought it with my roommate when I lived in Monterey for weekend trips to Los Gatos and San Francisco. We always had a few bottles of champagne in the fridge when the bars closed down, not a boring trip in that thing. Went to the Buffet concert, left Monterey with 6 people. Got stuck in traffic, everyone is partying in the back... there's a knock on the door..

"can I use your bathroom?"... then more knocks.

We got to the concert with 13 people in back, parked behind the stage and half the people never left for the concert.

It hosted the Blue Angels in Salinas. Went to Laguna Seca. Mexico.

          Took it coast-to-coast twice.

Had more drunk people talk on the PA then I can recall.

Eventually it turned into a family camper and it served admirably in that capacity, too.

These pics are from the Ensenada-Rosarita race. I'll need to find some party pics.

Buy one, you won't regret it.

I offered the guy $1000 for the thing, we'll see if he bites. It seems like it could be fun, I doubt I's want to live in it full time, but for temp housing, winter storm chaser, & a party bus, I think it's pretty rad.

360 motor and torqueflight 727 3-speed tranny. Stout stuff. I only got around 8mpg highway or city. A fuel injected motor would be nice, but the older ones like this had a lot more glass which made it fun. Newer ones are fiberglass caves with no windows.

If I had to do it over again I'd get a 1970's FWD GMC...

Find yourself a vanagon with a blown wasserboxer and an svx with a blown transmission. Both relatively common, I found the complete svx on craigslist in Denver for $700. Vanagons are small enough to actually get you to cool out of the way spots, but still plenty of room for lounging. They also get close to 20mpg with the eg33. Can't wait till I find time to do the swap.

                                I pulled the trigger, so here she is in all her glory;

                                Front 3/4

                                Rear 3/4

                                Cockpit

                                Living "area"

                                Kitchen.

                                Bathroom/shower/storage.

And there you have it, the motor got a full rebuild less than 1000 miles ago, the swamp cooler has been rebuilt recently, oven, stove, water heater, and all other appliances work. It needs a water pump, and it sounds like a new fuel pump as well. I'm pretty stoked, but also a bit apprehsive; this could either be a really fun project & toy, or a complete fucking nightmare. Time will tell.
