PM "Sleeve" about them. He knows his shit on watches.

If you're looking at dropping $6-800, do a lot of research and check eBay a lot. You can get some used watches at screaming prices with this economy. You can get a vintage Longines or Omega in that range.

I almost bought one, but didn't think the watch commanded that price. I hadn't heard of them until I saw them in the duty free store on kandahar air base. I had to look them up to see if they were any good. Bottom line is to get whatever you like to see on your wrist every day.

I have a couple really nice watches, but my favorite by far is a fossil watch I bought at ROSS while in Guam a few years back. It just fits me.

I am just starting my collection. Currently switching between a Sottomarino Pilotare Auto and a Maratac Pilot Auto.

Part of the reason I started the thread, there are so many brands/styles/etc............it's hard to even know where to begin.

I like the more "mechanical" looking watches I guess you could say.

I'm employed. I just happen to slush through my day and get everywhere when I need to be.

I've got this thing for sale. Tiffany, originally around $2k, r3v price $900. Recently refinished by Tiffany. I have all boxes.

Got this on sale at macys. was around 100 after tax. I buy fossil for low cost, looks, and they last forever. The last time i bought a mechanical watch was in 7th grade (fossil) and it lasted until I was 22. Still works, just getting scratched up from almost a decade of abuse. Just replaced the battery once along the way. 11 year warranty ftw.

Also its basic and not tacky. That's what I like most about it. Looks solid with a suit as well

                            Don't buy a Fossil.

Get something with a nice automatic movement.
