            I'm in the same boat as you but if my dad were to say hey let me cover some of the cost of something that I'm involved in and he has no part in I am more than willing to accept. For one of many reasons such as;

            - Shows me I have support (motivational more so than monetary)
            - I probably wouldn't be able to flourish in a hobby that costs a lot to maintain alone.
            - I wouldn't mind having some bonding time.

            Mind you if its something major like funding an entire engine swap then I would refuse and tell him its okay Ill work for it myself. But covering a partial entrance fee or providing the food during events totally fine by me.
