Yes but not that easy someone would have to really want to find you. As information is encrypted then bounced off servers around the world, each server bounce removes some of the encription. This makes it extremely difficult to find you via IP address. I don't say impossable because in the PC world nothing is impossable.

But I say use another PC with nothing on it, because your current Pc probably has a whole heap of information on it that would make it easy for someone to find and track you down. Though unless you actually screw someone over I doupt anyone will go through the effort to do that. Also if you are just browsing the worst that could happen is getting some viruses, or of course the FBI knocking on your door cos you are looking at some bad stuff.

I call BS on the size of the "deep web" - for every hit one of the deep web sites get, Microsoft will get a billion hits. I'm sure it out there - but no where near the size of the collection of "normal pages" around the web.

Not so much a "deep web" - just the a slim, slimy coating on the bottom of the ocean that pedos feeds off of.

Someone sign on there and search for nuclear weapons or classified information and see how fast an agent will come knocking at your door. As secretive as some people make the deep web out to be, you can rest assure that our government is on top of it... or at least I would hope so...

Ill just stick to watching legal porn and purchasing my drugs locally thank you.

^ he's right, you can't change your ip address easily. Cable modems have ip addresses that are static(don't change), and dsl has dynamic(changes slightly) ip addresses. Either way, if someone very computer savy wanted to find out what you have been looking at online/what is on your conputer, they will find it.

I can't believe I've never heard about this. I peeped the OP link about how to accesss it. Looks fairly simple, I will not be doing so from my crib though. I'm going to the local library in the center of town and paying cash for an hour or two of computer use while wearing a disguise w/ shades to check this shit out.

I wonder what type of information is out there about conspiracies and such, idk about you guys, but I love that kind of shit.

          Surreal

That would be nice but no. Like I said tracking you down is not easy, and once they do they will wait and watch what you do, get a good case against you see if you lead them to bigger players, then lock you up and throw away the key. That is if they can find your IP.

James needs to chim in. I am just going off of what I know and can read. It seems that the most easiest way to get found out is at the exit node. This is the point that the encryption is removed on the last server before it comes to you. But this breaks several laws with out proper paper work and legal matters and there is no way for someone to know what server you are using at any given time.

I'm not an expert, but programs that help you spoof your mac address (mac address = id # of your network card) is definitely a good idea to use in combination with proxies, firewalls, and anti-viruses. Here is some software to change your mac address to your network cards that is easy to use and free.

Idk about nukes and stuff being sold on the internet. I can just see this being full of three year old asian boys buttholes and I'd rather not see that.

I think you are just scared of the unknown. Just like the normal web search with caution and you will be fine. Don't go looking for dodge stuff and you should have no problems.
