Let me know if you have any questions about any of the different brands as i have ridden/races most of them.

As far as getting one it all depends on what you are looking for as far as power/reliability/price.

Ofcourse the more power the less reliable and more $$$ but there are a lot of good deals to be had.

Personally I would say you can never go wrong with ktm or a drz for the low end. The ktm are kinda pricey but they make a great bike and make some power depending on the modle that you pick up and the drz is slower but man they are a blast and can not be stopped.... i loved those bikes.

I have a aprilia sxv550 and waiting on my court date this friday.... haha

They are insanely fun. Mine tops out at just a tick over 100mph, the same place my ZX-6R was just beginning to entertain. For the street, it's a no-brainer. Just watch your control inputs. Unintended 5th gear wheelies sound like a good time...

I do miss my old 636.... Had that and then a 09 CBR 600. The honda was amazing, but when I high sided it on a cooler day, I realized that supersports are best left to the track.

I'm thinking a lil supermoto would be a great thing to switch to, and what you are saying simply reinforces that notion. Only problem, is I'll need to teach my wife how to ride. She wouldn't be too happy being left to walk while I had all the fun.

Thoughts on a CRF450? I realize it's not the best choice but I have almost always been a Honda fan boy and I like the way they look... I'm okay with doing maintenance, it'll give me something to do and the bike won't be my sole source of transportation either.

I love my CRF. When I first bought it, I thought the maintenance wouldn't be a big deal...but it does get very annoying after awhile.

The DRZ 400 is a very fun bike as well. It is super reliable. My dad has one and I ride it every now and then.

I'd look into all of the different options...husky, honda, ktm, suzuki, etc. Figure out what you really want and go from there.

Well with what you have said i would say do not let them talk you out of it. They make great great power and even with the wrong gearing are a blast. So i would say go for it man. Just make sure the one that you get has been taken care of that is the main thing. And from then on just do your best at keeping the front end on the ground haha.

But seriously, i have a sxv550. The MOST maint intensive supermoto there is. And once you know what you have to do it is not that bad and actually no big deal once you realize the fun/work ratio is calculated haha.

                    Awesome! Still doing research haha...

A few more questions... Seeing as you raced them, how are they for recreational track days? How long does a set of tires last, with and without track days?

Yeah I wish I had the money right now for this one...

Strip the dumb Rockstar graphics off and it would be a nice bike...as far as I can tell from pics haha...

Hmmm, I don't really remember ever seeing Supermoto's at track days.

Around here most guys tend to run them at the kart track.

I really don't know much about them but, on some of the supermoto forums I say a decent amount about tracking them. I bet a kart track would be fun though.

Lots of guys set up their own tracks as well with cones.

There's a cool video out their on youtube of an insane supermoto track. I'll try and find it.
