There are supermotos at track days around here. Obviously tracks that dont have really long straights are most suited to the lower top speed of a supermoto bike. Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama is a great track for example.

We have epic SM roads up here in the sticks.
Awhile back, I took the gang on a ride and surprised them with a little off road excursion to the slabs at the beginning of the Rubicon trail...some of them wont ride with me anymore.:D

        Suspension tips here...

As far as track days they are great. That all depends on the type of track that you will be going to ofcouse. If the tracks in your area are fast and have long straights then you may be suited better on a sport bike. But if they are like jennings, barber like said above, or little tally, you may not be the fastest in a straight but passing on the outside is more fun anyway hahaha.

A set of tires will last a season of track days if flipped right and all that. And if you do no track days that depends on the tire you buy but they last a lot longer then sport bikes tires do.

We also do circle track races here because the tracks pay us to bring out the crowds. here is a short vid of that.

And also a vid of barber on a sport bike so you can get an idea of what that looks like. Just skip all the crap at the beggening.

Let me know if you have any other questions man.

Anyway to get a hold of your buddy for me so I can check out the 2k DRZ.

              2l2ltq,

Thinking about getting a klx250sf for the wife, first time rider, 140 pounds and 47 years old. From the research I've been doing it appears to be one of the better entry level SMs, seems to be and easy ride with smooth operation. I know it's considered slow, but I'm pretty sure she will never want to go mach 9 with her hair on fire. Just exploring up in the Sierra foothills with some forest service gravel roads thrown in for good measure.

He will only sell to friends for that price /:

He said $2500 for me cause I only met him once, I turned it down, met him again and he said $2000. I think he has dropped the bike a few times at the track though. A thorough inspection of the frame/forks and what not would be my main concern.

Picked this up for $400 the other day. $230 later (needed timing stuff, rings, etc) and it runs great. Beat on it at an offroad park for a day and have a second set of rims on the way for road tires. It's a hell of a lot of fun. Not as powerful as some of the new stuff, but 6 speed gearbox, already street legal, some easy mods out there, and wonderful counterbalanced engine that doesn't vibrate much. Around town it's almost more fun than the 750 because of all the torque. Weighed it just for the heck of it and it's a tad over 255 wet.

My neighbor is like that. He picked up a 04 KFX 400 for very cheap from a friend who needed cash. Won't let me have it for less than 2k though. :hitler:

Not hating, I've known the guy my whole life, he just knows how to make some damn money.

And she now has a bike,

Went and looked at a 2008 KTM 690smc today, guy says it's clean and well maintained, 10k miles ( not too bad for an LC4 in all reality ). It has a broken front brake lever, front pads a red waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles hair from scoring the rotor, BALD front tire, leaking fork seals, dirty as fuck and just general beat condition, $6500 and he won't budge on price " he knows what he has ". Thanks bro have a nice day, and down the road with my hair on fire I go.

Nice pickup for the lady! Looks user-friendly.

And yes, I'd run from that abused KTM too. The LC4 is a super strong motor, but maintenance is still needed. Clutch basket is probably in need of replacement too.
