Went and looked at this today and fell in love so it had to come home with me.

Oh man, supermotos are where it's at. I've had sport bikes/dirtbikes/dual sports, and SM is by far the most fun, at least where I ride.

I had a 2005 DRZ400SM in college:






If you're looking to just ride and have fun goofing off, they're solid. Could even use it as a good daily commuter. Low low maintenance, just change the oil like you do in a normal bike, dont bother with valves, and ride the hell out of it. You can hopp them up pretty good with exhaust/pumper carbs/air filters, but if you EVER get on a 450sm, you'll want one.

Which is why i sold the DRZ to get this: 2009 BMW G450X.

I work at a BMW shop and we happened to by a dozen leftovers from NA on the cheap, so i couldn't pass it up. SM rims went on a couple of weeks later. 51hp / 260lbs wet and its a ton of fun. I do my oil often, its only 1qt and very easy to change. vavles you're supposed to check at 20hrs and then every 10. But, we find they never need to be adjusted, so im risking it.

Also had a CRF250X bored out to 280, and would not want it as an SM. Not near enough power for the street. Friend had a CRF450X converted SM and it was a rip!

I want to pick up a KTM 450sx and supermoto it!

I have never ridden a 450:/ I rode my friends 250sxf a bunch of times and that thing rips! I used to have a KTM 65sx when I was really little. That was fun as hell too! I just really love KTMs. A lot of money, but such nice bikes. Great motors.

Any 450 is going to be fun, that's for sure. KTM's/BMW/Husaberg/Husky etc all are a step up in fit/finish and build quality IMO, but the CRFs/RMZ's and so on are just as fun. A little tougher to get those plated, but a lot of the KTM's and the like are usually plated.

My next plan is to find a plated KTM/Etc 300cc+ 2 stroke then SM that. Would be absolutely insane!

Yes! That would be really awesome!! My uncle has a 300 2 stroke. and he had a 520mxc. I kinda wanna convince him to sell me one;)
