Finally got to update my sister, got a free motherboard and CPU from my sisters husband.

(I'll upload a pic a little later, tapatalk is being fucky)

    Current specs:
    Dell XPS 630i case
    ASRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard
    Intel Core i5 3570k @3.40GHz
    2x4GB DDR3 RAM (don't remember Manu.)
    Gigabyte Windforce GTX970
    Patriot Blast 240GB SSD (OS)
    750GB HDD dump drive.

Bout to pick up a Corsair 300R case, Corsair K70 RGB keyboard, and a Logitech G502 mouse. Then I'm content with my set up. Might grab an intercooler and overclock my CPU later, but I'm not worried about it now.

I've been forever looking for a good *remote*/IP KVM solution. All the ones I found required too much work that I honestly don't have time for as a one man operation.

So...I started using "teamviewer" recently(free for personal/small business use)

It's awesome. Game changer. I can remotely get to any PC/mac or laptop I own - or others with the software installed.. Take over the computer from anywhere. You have total control of the device. ( I think it's win/osx/android) It's not just KVM, it's also sound and everything else, web cam, etc.

PS - I have no affiliation with them - just a free cool product for hard core users. Totally worth the install if you have many computers and like to control them all from one place.

Weird. My 10 runs perfectly fine. Also I believe Microsoft is cutting security update support for 8 soon. I'm not sure about 7

I used xp for years (skipped Vista) currently running Windows 7 and am quite happy. Dabbled with Ubuntu and it wasn't user friendly enough for my family to use.

On past builds I would buy "last seasons" top processor and current ram/mobo/vid card/etc.

I think my first build had an AGP video card!!!
Radeon 9600 if memory serves me correctly.

I may go with all current stuff this time......after finishing some stuff on the e30, repainting bedrooms; building a craft room for the wife, new patio door........

Mid year for the new AMD stuff sounds about the right time frame for me.

A bit outdated but yeah those work.

The choices are weird on that for some of them, $100 seasonic PSU when you can buy an EVGA 80+ gold 750 or 1000W for less?

    Sound cards? Corsair LPX Ram?

The $400 X99 Asus board made me lol

Those look like good guidelines of similar parts to buy.
