in OR wreckless driving is doubling the limit - it would be a little harsh to make wreckless driving 20 over as freeways routinely flow at 10-20 over the posted limit.
In Oregon 20 over on the freeway is double the speed limit. :D

You tree huggers and your slow speed limits.
no shit... it sucks big time.. i love going to my GF's parents place in WA and being able to cruise at 80 without caring.... but the WA state patrol are some hardcore BITCHES... that speed trap by tacoma is rediculous
The fact that both cars have to be sold due to a ticket sounds to me like he didn't spend a dime to aqqure them. But that's neither here nor there.
As for 20 over, come to the Eastern US, most states use that as a yardstick for "reckless". Hell, in Virginia anything over 80 is reckless. There's highways there that are 65 mph, so 15 over results in a felony which can net you jail time.

- everyone has a story for how they have/acquired their stuff... but like you say, it's neither here nor there... If a guy got it handed to him, i hope he knows how to appreciate the machines at his disposal... if he doesn't, then he'll fuck himself eventually anyway... karma will take care of it
- as to the limits - 20 over in my mind isn't anything heinous... i'm surprised that the eastern part of the US has that opinion. When i was in Philli this last year for the U.S. Am people drove 20 over at LEAST easily... so i have a hard time believing cops can inforce that 20 over as wreckless limit
GOOD LUCK FINDING A LAWYER. I kept calling around calling around, none of the six traffic lawyers I called would take my case.
I got a ticket for going 125 in a 65, 60 over. I didn't even leave my driver seat, we had a very calm conversation, he was very polite to me.
In California, as long as the sirens are flashing, its recording, I learned this the day I entered the courtroom for my trial (I gave the cop a hard time regardless)
I came into the courtroom hoping to give them a good story, I didn't have a lawyer (lawyer refused to take my case) so I just did what I could. But the cop came with a tape of my pull-over, and that basically shut me out.
There is NO WAY it's a $7500 fine unless he got you with way more than reckless driving, it seemed like the officer you had was the ultimate asshole. My 125 in a 65 ticket costed me a total of $706, and a 30-day license suspension.
BTW you're not eligible for traffic school after 25mph over.
These are california laws, at least, I'm sure Oregon traffic laws are similar.
yeah i didnt really think the traffic school would really do anything, but if anything it will look good to the judge that i took it with out haveing to. I hope theres someway i can get it reduced to a normal ticket. Think i should plead not guilty so i can get a trial?
When I was less intelligent (read younger)I was on a transition road at 6pm on a holiday (think Thanksgiving but not sure) from one highly traveled freeway to another and somehow there was no traffic, I was able to get up to about 100 in my 300ZX TT and got pulled over, got a reckless speeding ticket this was in The San Fernando Valley of So Cal and I fought it.
I had to make a number of appearances but finally got them to let me pay the normal fine for a normal speeding ticket using the logic of how could I have possible been able to go so fast during rush hour on a crowded road during a peak period of time.
First I must say slow down on the roads Mom's and Kids are on then I say hope this helps.
I just dont think i deserved the reckless ticket. Someone at my school got a regular ticket for 101 in a 55, only because he slowed down from 115 by the time the cop radared him. theres also a chick that got a regular ticket for 110
my mom talked to her lawyer, says he'll work on it for 2000 "discounted" from 3g's

my mommy HAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you were my kid I wouldn't help you one bit and let you learn a lesson the hard way. But i'm sure mommy & daddy will help you out so your back on the streets again driving like douche thinking "fuck it I got my parents to bail me out". Stupid parents pwned by their own kids.
If by better, you mean funnier and simultaneously more pathetic, then yes, it does continue to get better and better.
Seriously man, we're all sick of hearing your whining and complaining about how you didn't deserve the ticket, how you have to sell your cars, how your mommy is talking to lawyers for you, and blah, blah, blah...
Man up and face the consequences of what you did. All I've read in this thread is "how can I get away with this, how can I get a lesser charge, how can I pay less money, how can I get in less trouble..." You've got no sense of responsibility or respect when it comes to cars and driving. You were being stupid, and yes, reckless. When I wrecked my E30 2 years ago, I was doing the same, driving beyond my abilites, and being irresponsible. I took the puinishment, a year without my license, and having to pay all sorts of fines and restitution to insurance, etc. You fucked up, plain and simple. Now you're going to have to deal with it.
I think i totally deserved a ticket, I dont think ive said that i dont. I went 105, a cop caught me, and I should have to pay the consequences. However, i wasnt doing double the limit, weaving, drifting, crashing, racing, or any of the other things that deseve the reckless driving ticket, which is just as bad if not worse then a dui. If a cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket for 105 in a 65 then that would be fine. I would pay the few hundred dollar fine, and be done with it. I dont think that several thousand in fines, jail time, and loosing my license for several months is right for what I did, guess I'm the only one
Regardless of what you think, 105mph in a straight line can be considered reckless driving according to the laws in your state. Have I gone 105? Of course, I go over 100 sometimes. If I get caught, I need to take the consequences for it, even if it counts as reckless driving. Stop being a bitch and take responsibility for it. You were driving over 100mph and it could count as reckless driving.
